i spent about 5hrs on saturday & another 5hrs today removing the intake manifold to the starter-motor. i,ll be having nightmares for a week about that d*mned top bolt, it was a sod to undo. anyway once off and giving it a good clean the s/motor appears to be ok. touch wood. :y

lol never mind i know the top bolt is a bit of a pig but the first time i did the starter motor from underneath i got it done in under an hour!!! trick is to superglue gel the nut onto the starter motor itself then carefully screw the bolt in, works everytime can change starter in around 40mins doing it this way and a lot of that time is jacking the car up and down !!

seems a good idea, but i could hardly see the nut and would have probably super- glued my fingers to something. good news is a good clean & a bit of grease has cured the prob. i,m well chuffed :y :y

sorry didnt make it clear you superglue the nut to the starter while its off the car then place starter in position on car and carefully screw the bolt in, when it goes tight superglue lets go!! :y job done
