Title: Stag LPG kit at good price
Post by: Ken T on 16 November 2009, 15:19:29
For anyone considering LPG, there is a 4 pot Stag kit on ebay for £175. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LPG-autogas-conversion-injection-kit-AC-STAG-4-300_W0QQitemZ250531207168QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3a54d2d800

I think this is the kit used by several people on here. Obiously you need to get a tank, etc  but there are enough of them floating around.

It just shows the difference in 2nd hand is very small. Mine cost £140, with the slight advantage of having a drilled manifold and a tank, but money wise very little between them.

I see there's another 2 petrol price rises coming soon.  :'( :'( :'(

How close on your manifold where the injectors mounted?

I personally wouldn't buy this kit as it's not as complete as the one we get supplied. It's also not the same kit... Different vaporiser for a start :y :y

There's no software, cable, pipework, brackets, hose clips, nuts etc, all of which will probably set you back another £150 minimum, which makes it more expensive (I think) than the supplier we use :y :y

I was going to post photos later, but...

Here are the LPG nozzles relative to the petrol injectors : (http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t155/lapbits/PICT2893.jpg)

Hers is one nozzle, curious it has about 4 holes into the manifold. :

I can't really comment on how good or bad this postion is, the car is a bit rough at low revs, but it hasn't been tuned at all. I fitted new plugs yesterday and its a lot better, apart from the missfire on one pot which is due to damaged spark plug rubber boot.

Position looks OK... Could have been a bit closer to the petrol injectors but not by much :y :y

.. not to mention we know the support that Teilo offers is good. I'm concerned that they say it's limited to 136 HP too. That sounds marginal for a 2.2 and I wonder where the restriction is?

Cheers for that, its good to see  :y

What kind of MPG are you getting at the moment on gas? My runs will be 90% motorway, hoping to get 25mpg. (2.2 manual)

Can't see that being a problem... I got about 21mpg (Actual figure) on gas in my 3.0 Auto last week on a run to Liverpool and back, with a bit of town driving too, without sparing the horses :y :y

True. And the one we have is supposedly good for 350-400BHP. :o A 3.2 on full bore certainly drags the output of that down a fair bit. I would be fitting 2 of them if I had any more power.

Probably another different Vaporiser :y :y

Make of kit only really relates to the ECU

This is the kit i bought:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120493003362&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBSA:GB:1123

Vaporisor is the same (although refered to as a Pressure Convertor) - TOMASETTO Alaska vaporizer

Looks like i was done by £40  :(

I don't think you can go wrong for £225 - it's essentially all there, bar a couple of hoses and clips....

Already got lots of big pipes for coolant, as we used on that other project. Just LPG pipes from injectors to vaporiser, some clips, and a rack to mount the injectors.

Yes, mine is labelled Bigas Sgis. The ECU however is made by AEB, and badge engineered by OMVL, Bigas and another 2 companies. I have a de-dongled version of the OMVL soft, must see if it runs my Bigas ECU OK.

Yep. About that. Estate will need a lie flat donut as opposed to the upright for saloon obviously. Differant mounting points and valve.

I can... Just post up your Credit Card details, billing address etc... ::) ::) :o :o ;D ;D ;D

Sorry... Couldn't resist!

Probably best to have a trawl for tank suppliers. I know Teilo had mine drop shipped from another company so it's worth ringing around :y :y

Oh yes... Sounds about right for a 4-hole tank. Make sure you get one with the valves fitted for you :y :y

Noted!  :y

Quick question on fuel lines, not sure if the kit i got contains fuel lines? The other cheaper kit  >:( Which looks the same, mentioned i needed "Copper tube or polyflex pipe 6mm (to connect with tank)"
Title: Re: Stag LPG kit at good price
Post by: Kevin Wood on 19 November 2009, 09:38:53
Doesn't look like it comes with fuel line. 6mm Polyflex will do the job. Don't bother with copper. You will need fittings to terminate the polyflex hose depending on what's on the vapouriser and multivalve. Probably worth using 8mm for the filler unless you're going for a 4 hole tank?

just rang a supplier for tanks, this was the price list (all +vat)

4 hole 80L tank - £211 (including valve & bolts)
Mouting brackets - £26.25
Filler - £28.55
FillerHose (standard length) - £16

Delivery £15

Brings total to £323, sound about right?  :-/

Not really sure, as I only got 1 bill for the whole lot!

Maybe slightly more than I expected, TBH. :-/ Perhaps the exchange rate has made it so. Worth giving Teilo a call to see what he can do IMHO.

Also be aware that 4 hole tanks have a fabricated filler hose a bit like a hydraulic hose with ends crimped on - so you need to know where everything is going to end up before you know how long it needs to be!

Multivalve tanks you can cut filler pipe to length as it's just copper / polyflex tube. In fact for a 4 pot I would probably go for a multivalve. I went 4 hole because it looked marginal on power with a V6.

They can fill quicker too, on the right pump!

You will also need rubber hose for the vapour and vacuum connections.

Best to see what turns up and we'll sort out what else you need. :y

That is quite a bit, you could get a 2nd hand tank a lot cheaper. I was selling a 2nd hand 60L tank with fitting kit for £45.
