Post by: p j morgan on 20 November 2009, 03:00:59
i had overheating problems i thought the headgaskett was on its way out !i checked usual tell tale signs water in the oil ?no! oil in the water ?no! i took the thermostast out and it ran alright for a bit .then it started again water was comeing out of the bottom of the water pump .i stripped her down today [thursday] the water pump was solid in the block .after a bit of tapping and nocking it came out .it was covered in rust and after cleaning the bits of rust off i found there was a clean bit where the water had been leakinh out .i replaced the waterpump and fitted a new timeing belt all on my own it took me two hours .she is running as sweet as a nut .proud of myself i managed it with out any problems .first one i have done in twenty five years ! :y
