Title: Does this sound expensive?
Post by: Taxi_Driver on 19 June 2007, 21:02:39
This is on my veccyC but same could apply to omegas.....

Noticed a whirring noise today coming from the engine area....speeds up with revs.
I heard this before....and it was aux belt pully bearing going.....not on this veccy tho.

Then i discovered if i turned the aircon off the wirring noise went as well, turn it back on and the whirring started again.....so im assuming its the bearing on the aircon pump  :(

Does this mean a new aircon pump? or can the bearing be bought seperately and be changed?
I bet vx only sell the pumps as one complete item......and i bet they arent cheap  :( plus it would then need a regas aswell :(

Any ideas chaps?

The bearings can be replaced in situ with the right tools (and somebody compitent using them!) and the aircon pumps are about 300ish quid....

Seen one on EBay £45 used but in good condition to-day may have gone now.

would the pumps be same with VeccyB & VeccyC? - If so could go to a breaker
