....i've re fitted one on the drivers side.....rather things.
I got fed up of the back end moving around and the old c****** bushes sitting in the top of my tool box staring at me waiting for me to do something with them.
I've had 10mill machined off the top of the centre spacer and fitted 3 large washers to take up the missing 10mill at the bottom so they now sit at the same hight on the centre spacer as omega ones.
If it stays put and does not squidge out like they did before i'll fit the pass side as well.
If it does squidge i'll re fit the omega one making sure the solid areas are nearest the side of the car with void holes giving movement for and aft....and throw the carlton ones directly and very firmly in the bin.
I forgot to look how it was positioned before i removed it as i was rushing to get it done in the 2 hours daylight available, just managed it. Why do we change the clocks again? >:(
Looking at the cut outs on the back and wiggling the centre about with a bar i'm sure the orientation is important. Void holes front and back i reckon, with the single square on cut out towards the front of the car. Solid areas of the bush then gives stiffer sideways movement when positioned so. Cut outs, the bit they leave raised to lever them out with, are visually the same on both models, when viewing from the back.
Quick test drive and it has tightened up the back nicely on that side as we know it would, fraction noisier, a tad rumblier( only a bit), drivers side no longer tram lines like the pass side does on the rear at the moment.
Please God it is still fully home when i get home tomorrow.
Does anyone know how much agro it is to replace one of the captive nuts? Just in case. I've given them some real grief with all the changes and agro i've had with these. To the point that i now need a new triangular plate as the bolt head has bent and almost worn through. Yeah, nightmare!
-
in all the carlton/senator omega ones ive done and some of them 5 or 6 times owing to racetrack abuse :'( ive never known the captive nut to need replacing? so think you should be ok there, triangular plate is same on al models so should be easy replacement off a breaker, hope thye bush stays put buddy!! :y

Thanks OT. :-) looks like i've board everyone to death with this subject. ;D
By the way the car drives, i think its still in. But i haven't actually looked.....i'm sacred! ;D Plus i've been pulling the plenum off and all the lpg gubbins to do the cam cover seals. Haven't had a chance in all honesty. Note to self. Change cam cover gaskets BEFORE fitting lpg system. 89k on the clock and 6 years old. O rings rock hard, seals a bit firmer than the new ones and leaking in the corners by pot 1 and 2.
Anyway, i like the firmness of the new bush. Bit am a little concerned that the noise and road rumble will be too much when/if the other side is fitted as well.
Did you pay any attention to orientation when you installed yours OT?
-
sorry bro, but i always fit the solid ones so i never needed to!!!
however if it were me would want the goive to be fore and aft rather than side to side? better handling that way!! :y
-
Nope. Squidged out again. They're for the bin now.
Not as bad as last time, only come out by 5 mill ish but come out they have. Its been a pain with the windy weather of late. "Is that the wind or the bushes making the car wonder?"
How much are polly again?
The mot is due next month so i'll re fit the old omega bush making sure its the right way round and go from there.

mot passed today [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]
After a quick chat with them they reckoned it would be ok so i put the car through.
Needs new fog light bulb though. ;D

Well done on the MOT pass chris, did the do the emmisions on petrol or LPG? :)
-
Good news on mot Chris :y If you want something other than standard i think there are uprated bushes available from Germany, iirc Andy C ordered them in for someone on here

Oh yeah. Dont know. Petrol i guess? I didnt tell them it was an lpg car. They must have worked it out and found the switch on the dash. Good job i put the spare wheel back in the boot a couple of days ago. I'm sure it would have failed without it? ;D

MOT should test the car on "the fuel it is presented with" .. ie .. if its running on petrol the test is on petrol, if on gas the test is gas .. they should NOT change any switches at all. Now as mine is an auto change over I just told them that, and the guy said it matters not, as they leave the engine idling to warm up before the test it will change over itself and be tested on gas, as that is what it is running on at the time of the test.... if that makes sense.
Regarding the spare .. if fitted it MUST be legal. If not fitted it cannot be checked. There is no requirement to have one. .... so if in doubt .. leave it at home .. :)

It would have changed to gas then, as thats how its set up. Cheers Entwood, good info. :-)

ok. Both omega bushes fitted and positioned with the void holes for and aft, solid section to the sides.
Anyone want to play guess the results? :-)

Well, thats better than i was expecting, expect a chorus of "of course its better, they're now fitted correctly " with "you twonk" sentiments thrown in.
Or your being too polite Mr Wood? :-)
-
i suppose what i'm really asking is, would anyone here have fitted these any particular way round? Or just whacked em in any old way?
Its always easy to be wise after the event, but....

Actually, its sorted. Did my work journey as a test just to see and its fine. Still very windy and the car hardly moved at all. Tfft! :-)

Glad to hear it... :y
