Title: Never Offer Help out of Politness
Post by: Markie on 20 June 2007, 17:53:11
You know that polite way of asking people close to you a question that, ideally, you dont want an answer to......provoking the though "im sorry i asked.."?

ie Man to woman - "im nipping into the supermarket for beer do you want anything Darling" (Man secretly hopes for "thanks but no thanks" reply) but woman advises " yes could you do the weekly shop"  ;D

Well  :-/ my father has come down to pick up from and babysit his grandson today whilst SWMBO and i work late.

As i left at 11am he asked " do you want anything done around the house" secretly he probably presumed id say " no thanks"...or "can you peel some potatoes"

Imagine his stunned reaction when i said

" well actually yes, that little rover in the garage on axle stands, could you seperate and remove the gearbox from the remainder of the engine, oh and the driveshafts are stuck so you`ll find an angle grinder on the shelf"

Father is now in overalls and just called to ask if i have any swarfega....5 hours later...

I wish i was at home doing the same....sounds like he is actually having fun  ;D
