V6 without a shadow of doubt, really is a beautiful driving car, smooth, and a beautiful noise to boot!
4 pots just ain't cricket in my opinion!
-
The biggest engine & best spec'd car you can find/afford! ;) V6's aren't that much thirstier than 4 pot cars due to the size & weight of the car!
Pretty much a case of 'big is best .... bigger is better still!' :y :y :y

Entirely up to you my friend.....
I have a 2.2 CD in Silver which is more than adequate for me,it has all i need and is nippy enough....
The big advantage to the 2.2 in my opinion is is far easier to work on the the V6's,engine wise anyway
Fuel comsumption doesn't really differ too greatly i dont think, my 2.2 gets roughly the same town driving than my mates 3.2....

Also,Insurance wise.....
3.2 Elite V6 = Group 16
2.2 CD = Group 13

I'll stick up for the 2.2 owners.
The're just as thirsty as 6 pots although maybe not as smooth to drive. Just the same in comfort, and again the same as you know you ain't paid a fortune to own one, if your lucky.

I used to have a 2002 2.2 CDX saloon manual, had it for 15 months or so. It was great, never let me down...and I thought was fairly brisk. I'd describe the engine as adequate. But it is a heavy car. It also depends on which gearbox you'd prefer, manual or auto? That will make a difference to mpg. But really, an Omega just for town driving will drink fuel, it's not the best car for that really.
I've currently got two 3.2's and a 2.6, and I wouldn't really go back to a 2.2 as a car to keep for myself, as after you've driven a V6, it's not that easy to go back to a 4 cylinder.

2.2 automatic for me i think.opinions?
2.2 auto or manual its a big diffrend mpg?
-
My personal opinion and plan (eventually) is to keep my 2.2 as a daily driver and get a 3.2 V6 as a toy/play thing :y
-
If you are driving around town then the size of the Omega might be fun (getting parked and squeezing through gaps). Driving around town the mpg would be lousy anyway so I would go for an auto just to be lazy :)
-
Had 2.2 cdx manual for nearly 2 years. It is thirsty round town but very good on a run. Also it is not fast but adequate performance, (a lot quicker than our 1.6 Picasso from the traffic lights). It has been mega-reliable which is why I have kept it despite wishing sometimes that I had held out for a V6 as originally intended.

nothing wrong with the 4 pots, much much easier to work on.
V6 Thermoststat vs 4 pot?
V6 cam cover vs 4 pot? hummm again i know which one i would rather do..
Mines just about to crack 132k and has not missed a beat, get it up to 80 (ok takes 2 seconds longer), set on the cruise and it will stay there allllllll dayyy long.
We have a 3.0 and.... for my commute. I prefer the 2.2, engine is almost as smooth, but its much, much quieter in the cabin. The drone of the V6 can get annoying, 17's do seem to compromise the ride, does not crash about as much on 16's

2.2 auto or manual its a big diffrend mpg?
Personally a 2.2 Auto wouldn't be an option in town... Too much weight and a slushmatic = very poor MPG!
The V6 won't be hugely better but I find I can get bearable figures if I read the road ahead and keep rolling :y :y

Glad I could be of assistance
