Title: Screen Wash Problems
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 05 January 2010, 14:36:46
With a link to Tunnies topic, I would add that:

Yesterday, upon my return to the UK, I collected my car from the Gatwick hotel I had left it with, at 0700 with temperatures at -5 degrees.

Even with a good mix in my washer bottle and working heater elements, the jets just would not work until I returned to Ashford, with temps still at -4,  and left the car for 10 minutes with the engine heat eventually doing the job!!

It was amazing how many cars, lorries, and other vehicles also had unwashed screens on the journey back with varoius attempts to clear being made.  I used snow, and a bottle of Coca Cola, to keep mine relatively clear, but others were hanging out of windows and squirting bottled water at the problem!  An unusual sight that I haven't seen in the South for many years!!  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

As per my reply on my thread, spraying de-icer on the jets helps a bit. But i found even the 'strongest' screenwash is only effective down to -6

Its been as low as -8 on the commute  :(

Also noticed a huge increase in pot holes and cr@p road surfaces, this weather is destroying the roads, and the councils are already bust  :'(
