Been offered a valve spring compressor (for a fiver) by a friend and wondered if it would work on my 3.0 heads (not sure if there are specific types or not)??
It is a Draper one with a capacity of 60 - 155mm and throat depth of 160mm. Not sure what these measurements are??
It looks like this

As your (car's) heads are off, won't your mate let you try before you buy? You just need to ensure there's enough space around the collets to get them off the valve stem when you've compressed the spring and that the black tube is deep enough to reach down inside the head to reach the collet holder! ;) :y

Good point Andy. I will go and get it from him when this snow clears and give it a whirl! :y

Yep, looking at that picture, I'm unsure it will have enough reach to get down into the tappet bore, TBH. :-/
This is similar to what I have http://www.toolsbypost.com/product_pp.php?category=1284&id=1795
You can see that it allows you to screw out the end that goes over the valve stem to make it as long as it neds to be. Suck it and see, I guess.

It looks like the one I have, in which case the fixed anvil isnt long enough to reach into the valve spring bores. I made an adaptor using copper tube, olives etc which worked a treat but I havnt seen it for a couple of years. Ask Marks DTM to take a picture of it for you. ;)
