Ok, we've done the worst, now, what's the best car you've ever owned, or had the use of, the car that made you want to get out of bed an hour earlier, so you could go for a blast, the car that put a smile on your face every time you got in it, i've been quite fortunate and had quite a few tasty motors, but the best for sheer speed and the noise it made, had to be my 2008 merc C63 AMG, an animal of a car.

golf re 2000
mk2 golf with a 182 bhp motor :D ;D ;D

Chevette HS when I were a lad. 24v Senator when I was allegedly a grown up. ;)
-
I would like to say my old MK1 Cortina GT or one of my many, over the years, Mini's but to be honest it must be the Mitsubishi Galant which, sadly is currently sitting idle on the drive. :(
Speed, comfort, easy to drive and truly reliable there is little to fault...... :y
-
For reliabiltity and value, my '59 1100cc Beetle, with trafficator arms!. 130k in 12 years, two new valves and service items. Fantastic car. ::)
-
always liked the chevette hs, and lotus sunbeam, rear wheel fun, not forgetting the iconic MkII RS2000
-
I like my Chevy very much but its not the best. If I was going pound for pound in terms of reliability, equipment, cruiseability it would have to be my Nissan Primera P12 DI SVE. I really miss that car!
-
for me my bmw e38 is the best i ever had...
i have 98 with 156k no rust anywhere and never let me down... faster than many cars in public road
but limited to 155 ... much better than my omega
-
I would have to say my Calibra V6, it had a few tweeks so went nicely and turned a few heads :y

Some years ago, when it was newish I borrowed one for a week, 4x4 Turbo version, all I remember was that it was faster than I was...... ::) ::)

1970 MG Midget was a bit of fun all those years ago

As a simple 'best car', got to be the Rover I have on the driveway. OK, it eats HGs quicker than petrol, but generally been mega reliable. Had it for 102k and 10yrs, which is the longest I've had any car (both mileage and time).
I think my old tractor (now belonging to Squealey) has to be up there as well. Something about that car, can't put my finger on it. Loved it.

Probably all the work that you did on it ;) ;)

Nope, loved it from the day I drove it home from Audo Addict's, after we'd picked it up and shoved in a new waterpump. It had a certain... ...hmmm... ...really don't know :-/. Of the 3 cars on the driveway, that was the one that got used. It wasn't the quickest (MV6 by a country mile), wasn't the best handling (Rover), but a nice drive, whether thrashing it or driving like Miss Daisy (Apparently, so she tells me)

Yep, agree with that - except for me it's my current daily driver. Makes me want to go to work in the morning, but I look forward to the drive home even more!

I have to say that my tractor is certainly up there with my '59 beetle. I've had it nearly 11 years now, and (touches head) had no problems other than the driver's door check strap. I've recently changed the wishbones as a precaution, bushes were still OK, and for the same reason also just changed the water pump and drive belts, which were original at 94k and still good. Amazed how good the belts were, not a sign of cracking or wear. Only one new battery, and otherwise service items. So it will probably top my list next year, and I still love driving it. 8-) ::) :y

Got to be my Rolls Royce, 6.8ltr V8, pulls like a train and 110% luxury. Funwise an MGF. :y :y

Citroen 2CV
When you understand its foibles, respect its limitations and admire the minimalist aeronautical engineering, it is the ultimate car to relate to.
If you don't understand it, it is the ultimate car to hate.
In 2003, I rebuilt mine, drove it non-stop around Europe via Rome, Prague, Brussels and Amsterdam in 2 weeks without fault.
On my return, an old lady drove into it and wrote it off.
I still cry when I think about it :'( :'(
They are not practical with all the SUVs etc and distracted drivers programming nav or texting on our roads-if I did not have to encounter these, I would have another TONIGHT.
It is the ultimate car-if everyone had one....

Has to be my 1991 Nissan Maxima.
3.0 V6 auto, terribly bland to look at so no-one noticed it. Put on a stainless straight-through Blueflame exhaust, add a K&N filter and stiffen the suspension but leave it looking bog standard. For the money (not much) it certainly surprised a few beemer drivers and was utterly reliable.

RS2000,s were pretty over rated as a performance car tbh. ;)

Im sure many wont like but hey:
1995 1.8 mondeo estate, LX. I did atleast 100k miles in it over about 7/8 years. serviced it maybe twice, did 120mph in it more than a few times and several thousand miles towing a caravan to heavy for it. Took loads of abuse, only decided not to have the first major problem i had in years (something to do with engine, would have been a 500quid job) becuase fancied a change.
But, my last omega, 1995 2.5TD had so many problems, cost a fortune to keep running, quite sluggish etc i absolutly loved. No idea why but i prefered it to my current 3.2 manual lol.

For me it was a 3ltr ford granada ghia coupe, a rare car in its day had it from new as a company car, the finish was great inside with great big armchairs at the front, it went well to.
As a fun car my sunbeam tiger 4.2 good fun but not easy to drive around town.

Forgot to mention my '53 Mk1 Consul, another good solid car, rallied it for 3 seasons, won a couple of special stages (They were low grade rallies, although still under RAC), and it survived that pretty well, only thing missing was a four (or even five) speed box. ::) :D :y
