Title: Facelifting a 1998?
Post by: Dan1005 on 27 January 2010, 12:00:21
Hey,

having just bought my 1998 Omega I want to keep it looking like an clean smooth car. However I was wondering about the possibility of putting a facelift bonnet on. Has anyone ever tried this? and how possible is it?.. Im assuming that one could just take the grill out of the 1998 front, and the facelift bonnet would fill that gap, with latches and everything being shifted of course. Is this the case?

Why would you want to? Pre facelift looks better IMHO :y

need scuttle, bonnet, bumper, and headlights, not that easy, but doable.

then move washers too.

I agree with Scottie, why do you want an Omega that looks like an Astra G?  ::)  ;) But IIRC you'll need the headlights grille & bumper too.  :y

Forgot about scuttle!  ::)

The bonnet will fit but you'd have to change the headlights as they'd catch and the bumper as the front of the bonnet is deeper than the original grill.

thanks for the replies.. Its not that im 100% sold on the idea. but my only problem with my car is that its silver, and those black nudge bars on each side look a bit silly to me.. and I want to get rid of that gaping open hole look....  so I am just trying to play with some thoughts..

Just replace the rubbing strips, its so much easier and cheaper and there are quite a few people on the forum that have done it.

But then they don't match up with the front & rear bumper, especially noticable on a light coloured car.

This was the other option that I was also considering... Dont want to do it with my own aerosol can :D prefer to get somone to do it who has the right tools and wouldnt stuff the look of the car right up..

Is removing the strips worthwhile? or better just to get them painted over and hope for the best?
