this has probably been asked before and is a rather dumb question ::) but how reliable is the "range" or miles left, on the trip computer? i normally re-fill it when the range drops below 150 miles, but how low can you let it drop before its advised to re-fill? i know theres a risk of sucking up any sludge in the tank if you let it drop too much
-
Recently (due to financial contraints) I've regularly got it down into single figures ;D ;D
-
i go by the good old fuel gauge,my range say's i have 80 miles left but can run out of fuel, only done this once though, just keep mine above the first white mark now :y :y :y :ykeep it above the first white mark should be good :y :y :y
-
When I had my 7 series, I used to let it drop to 'flatline' where all the numbers disaappeared and there was just a flatline. Old man used to go bonkers.
Well to fill it to top with diesel it was costing £129 and that was a year ago. God knows how much these days. As for a Miggy I do not know as I never had one, but soon maybe soon.
-
There are people who claim to have seen zero :y :y
-
Iv'e had mine on 0 MILES quite recently, and then travelled at least 3 miles after that before filling up! bit of a bum clencher though ;D
-
Above the last white mark on the guage sounds sensible :y think i rely on the trip computer too much lol always flicking through it to see what info i got, mpg, inst.consumption, range etc
-
i never trust the range think it is a liar on purpose just to tick you off ;D ;D ;D ;D ;Dalways trust the good old fasion fuel gauge 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) :y :y :yi some times get 999.9 mpg when slowing down on mpg,how good would that be i would only have to fill up once a year ;D ;D ;D ;D
-
im not one for bum clenching ;D dont want to wear a hole in the seats
-
Ive had mine go to 0 before now, after that the fuel light will flash which apparently means 1 gallon left
-
How many gallons does the tank actually hold though? i do tend to fill mine when it hit 10 gallons used, as that comes to around £55 which isnt too much of an eye waterer. :o ;D
-
mpg on motorways some time reads 54mpg consumption, and instant consumption just goes up and down all the time, don't really trust it thinks it's shit ;D ;D ;D
-

Me, also very recently! Down to 3 miles range, and only a fiver to my name, so put it in. Computer didn't register the fuel so was driving for 2 days with it reading 0
-
Anyone recall the drive from France to Blackpool in the diesels on Top Gear?
JC's Jaguar was reading empty on both gauge & computer, but the camera in the tank said it very different & they reckon it had around 120 miles of fuel left.
-
THe tank holds 75 litres

-

1 Imperial gallon = 4.54609188 litres which make an Omega tank about 16 1/2 gallons :y
-
83 quid!!!! :o :o im only 27 but my heart couldnt take the shock of seeing that on the pump total :o :o

but I already knew a gallon was about 4.5 litres, just wanted to be specific :y ;)
I could've used 1 pint =568ml which I've remembered for the last 30 odd years after delivering many a pint of milk as a kid ;) ;) ;)
-
I have ran for a couple of weeks reading 0 miles left :y
-
I've ran mine down to about 4 miles. If you then fill up you'll discover that there waa still about a gallon left in the tank :y :y
-

doesnt do the fuel filters/injectors much good running low on fuel as ive found out in the past :-[

But his is LPG ;) ;) ;)
But... Still not good for the petrol pump to be run that low :y :y

All fuel range displays are gimmicks, no harm in them but i would'nt trust them.
Whenever i get near the 1/4 tank i fill up. Simples!

good advice which i am trying to adhere (if thats the right word ) to with my "Lady Olivia" dont want to give her any reason to brake down on me if i can avoid it, just sold the most reliable car i have ever owned (and iv had over 20) my celica "cilla" had her nearly 3 years and she never let me down once, i know people call jap cars but i couldnt fault her ! heres hoping " Olivia" is as good to me ::) but not holding my breath ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It's OK still got a couple of gallons left

Mine regularly sits at the Zero mark for days, never run out of fuel (yet!!!) :o
-
The fuel warning light on mine comes on when I have 50 miles left. Thats when I normally look to fillup, but when it starts flashing on the CID that I'm down to 31 miles, I don't let it get any lower, simply as I don't want to risk the crud in the bottom of the tank causing problems.

If £83 gets you shitting yourself, an Omega isn't the car for you ;D
-
range on the Omega is quite good, it takes an average mpg from the last 12 miles to predict the range. Hence it goes up on the motorway, you guys must run the tanks low, usually its £60-65 for me :-/
