The muppet who last changed my oil filter, for totally ignoring the 15Nm legend cast into the cap and trying his strength on it. When I tried to remove it the whole housing unscrewed causing loads of grief to finally get the cap off with a 24 mm socket, 3 foot of scaff bar and a chain wrench. Can't these herberts read or what? >:(
Dunno if we did right but when we finally got it all off we cleaned and replaced the housing with a smear of blue hylomar, then refitted the filter and new seal, torquing to the specified figure.

LOL, when have you ever seen a torque wrench used in a garage?
-
LOL point taken but its the first time I've ever needed 3 foot of scaff tube to remove a bloody oil filter, no wonder I couldn't shift it last weekend with a 3/8 ratchet and the car on axle stands.

Couldn't agree more, you try getting a wheel off after a lease car has had its tyres done at K-fit or any other tyre fitters. The idea of a torque wrench is stop applying force once it has clicked (or beeped if your flash). The amount of broken studs or mashed locking wheel nuts we seeyou wouldn't believe, and then Joe public think its our fault Highly trained and skilled techs against wannabe mechanics,.
sorry if i have offended anyone but its a real sore point. I've been on a ton of ford and Jaguar courses to become a master tech.. and they've done one days tuition on fitting a tyre ........................Sorry breath breath count to 10 ah. thats better :)

So are you saying then a tyre fitters having a air gun set at 200nM to do wheel nuts up....then double checking with a torque wrench thats set to 100nM and it clicks straight away......is not the correct procedure ;D ;)
