There was a long thread on this a few weeks ago, started by me.
I had an interview to work there and exposed the con; the staff are paid on how much they "chip" you on the original online price, an average of about £300, done with the help of a paint thickness meter and the fact that most punters are desperate and have no other option.
I was told to expect annoyed and sometimes threatening customers and that I would have 15 minute slots to se a seller, chip the price, do the deal and move on.
They buy the cars a lot cheaper than trade price due to the fact if people make the decision to go over there and sell the car, they will accept a lower offer. They then just sell the cars back to the trade.
They have to offer at least £50 as they are called "we buy any car" to comply with trading standards.
The reality is they will give you nothing like your car is worth.
Not a good firm to deal with >:(
-
They will buy my car for.........£745.
-
They can break off.... my car isn't for sale ;D ;D
-
This is how it works...
1). Webuyanycar give you an over-inflated price online.
2). You say 'great' and hop in the car
3). You drive to Car Craft (hmmm)
4). They appraise the car and off something close to that as a deposit on one of their cars
5). You say "I want the money"
6). They evaluate the car further, the price for cash drops to something insulting, all the time you are fending off over-eager salesmen trying to flog you one of their cars (on credit).
Chance of leaving with any money at all? Slim.
Chance of wanting to shovel someone in the head within minutes of arriving? Very high.
-
I'm going to ask them to buy my Matchbox car ;D

Points 1 & 2 are not doing it for me ::)

They seem to fall into the same catagory as all those loan companies (some of which advertise typical apr at over 2300%, and no, thats not a typo >:( >:()
They are vultures, out there to prey on the weak and the desperate. If I (by that I mean my wife) didn't have my head screwed on I would be their perfect customer, i.e, redundant, large family, absolutley zero money and in huge debt :'( :'(
I hate this type of company with the same passion I hate debt collection call centres and door step operatives. It may just be a job to them, a way of paying their bills, but they are scum, I always make sure to ask them if their parents are proud of their chosen occupation!

A similar site was posted a year or so back. They offered me £175 for the Beastie but i'd have to swap the private plate back first so nothing in effect.

They'll give me good money for my Veyron, shame it's just a crappy picture I drew on the back of the gas bill.
Still, I'll enjoy spending the cash!

Apparently they were originally part of Carcraft, now a sister company-I thought the above was what they would do, but was told on interview they just sell back to trade.
This is the system:
1/ You do online val
2/ You book an appointment to take the car to nearest office
3/ They inspect the car and revalue it around £300 less by any means possible (number of owners, paint thickness, tyres etc)
4/ You then:
a/ get angry and leave (common)
b/ accept and take a cheque
c/ accept and agree to pay £28 for CHAPS bank transfer
The guy had great pleasure in telling me how much they can get knoocked off and their pay is based on the profit for buy price to trade sale price. He did say that anyone ever mentioning emigrating got royally stitched up.
In any business there will always be lazy or desperate people who need to cash something in regardless of whether it is the best deal or not. This is just a company that has taken advantage of this gap in the market.
If you know this is how they work, you can either take a stupid price or go elsewhere :y
-
They will buy my car for.........£745.
£745 ? thats better than mine, the cheeky barstewards offered me £255 !!! ide sooner shove wasps up my botty , good job im not selling or parting with Bob , hed be worth more if he played with a box of matches or jumped in a ditch or headbutted a tree or.... lol i think you get the picture :D
-
It's high value cars they really want. If they can nick a cheap quality car of someone, they then sell it to their sister company who retail it for top price, Profits will be in the thousands rather than the hundreds
-
reading the posts on here about this company, being messed about on Autotrader having their site full of sold vehicles, and Gumtree you risk getting mugged by shady characters when you go to collect the car .....even fleabay would now seem like a safe option... :-?
.
-
Great joke - tested it ages ago = £50.00 hahahahaha
-
£915 !!!!! Body kit is worth more than that on its own I expect !!!
Parasites IMHO
>:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

-
Just valued mine £1,335.00. They can lick my chuddies.

£525 but I didn't tell them about the "private number plate" (Spanish one).
Tempted but......
£200 for fuel,
£47 road tolls
£24 for ferry ( day trip but omit to tell them I am not coming back)
£80 Hotels
£20 sweets and drinks
£40 real food
£60 speeding fine (inevitable but optional)
£25 taxi to airport
£29 single flight with Ryanair (no luggage, seat, clothes etc)
£0 hitch from Malaga home assuming I can buy some clothes!
Profit £0. mmmmmm maybe not.
