Title: Vectra high revving problem.
Post by: Jimbob on 15 February 2010, 08:41:54
My Brother in law's 99 Vectra 1.8 manual...

He has told me it keeps revving really high, when warm, and being driven normally.

Not seen it yet, he is bringing it round later, and I'll check codes etc..

Any ideas what may be causing it?

X18XE1 ?

If so, clean the throttle body, drill the breather out to 2mm and update the engine ECU software (note1)

note1: This may be the floor in the plan

Got it on live data tonight....strange results..

the O2 sensors go from reading low hundreds, to 4-5000 constantly cycling, very strange, here is the live data....

Also cleared out a not present crank sensor code

it possibly sounds a little more whiney than it should too.

airfilter clear, oil change due

no sign of an airleak I can detech.

hmmm

Success!!!

Sent it for a 2-3 mile drive....EML popped on, the crank sensor error is now present.

Looks like we have the problem  :)
