Going to pick up my daughters new car on Saturday from Manchester, she has purchased a 2005 facelift Honda Civic Type R, went to look at it last weekend and it is in top condition with 30,000 on the clock with 6 months Honda warrenty on it.
As some of you know she has a VW Lupo gti, thats now up for sale, hope she is not making a mistake with the Honda, i know the Lupo has been an excellent car and i am lead to believe the Hondas are a reliable car even though its the Type R.
We will see :-?

Well i have never heard a bad word said about hondas,or any other jap car for that matter. :y

agreed, some wingeing about interiors being dull generaly on jap cars, but not on this little puppy, esp if its the old shape, cracking little car it seems, for front wheel drive anyway, not sure when the new shape Swindon model came out?

Wow, brought the civic type R back from Manchester yesterday, what a car, daughter is well pleased with her new motor.
The civic packs a mean punch, good on fuel too if not driven hard, i had to have the odd play on the way back though.

I never liked them to be honest, they have to be revved the nuts off to get anything decent out of them :(

Everyone to there own, i find it very quick without ragging it, daughter is well please and that suits me.

type-r , good car,good choice .. and interestingly pre 2007 models have better corner handling then the current models because of setup change.. :-?
and they can be easily modified to higher hps with some small mods..

Early model civic is the one to go for as the later versions lost the IRS setup....
Beware the Vtec though....if giving ti large you need regular oil changes and GOOD oil.

Have to agree with that statement,my little sister ran one for two years and yes it can be fun.So far Honda has not reported one VTEC failing which is quite impressive.The extra few hundred rpm up till the redline make a lovely noise,I had a VTEC system on my VFR800 bike and it is a bit like having a two stroke powerband :) :y

They need fully synth....and changed regulalrly.

My brother has an '02 plate Type R. Caught him about to top it up from the 20 year old can of Duckhams "Q" 20W50 in the corner of KW senior's garage once! <shudder>. :o

i used to have a rover 600 with the honda engine in it, used to absolutely thrash it to the death, and it never failed me. good motors. strong, and so under rated for what they are. just dont get caught up in the modifications scene, there are 1000s £££ to be spent on civic bits!!

...including tho obligatory wrong way round baseball cap, worth a good 10bhp more when on backwards.

Only know the 54 ish plate is a cracking drive if you thrash it. The present one has lost the handling & character.
By what you say you've bought the best one. Same as Migs they need regular fettling to keep them right though as they do have issues.
I remember some time back you posted you "Miggy family", lovely Mother & daughter. I'm only a father to one 24 year old son. If i had a pretty daughter i would'nt let her near an car, i'd buy her a tank..fully armed!!!!! :y
