Title: Black Sealant
Post by: Lizzie_Zoom on 15 March 2010, 18:29:48
Well after reading about other members being given green sealant and not the black one for the cam cover gaskets, my previously trustworthy Vx dealer tried that one with me today! ::) ::)

Thank God I checked before I left the parts desk, and my contact there was suitably embarrassed!

So anyone else due to buy 'the gunge', make sure you get the correct black one Vx Part No. 090485251 ;) ;)

Can I ask what VX charge for this?
And why black not green?

I have an idea, but I'd like it confirmed, first! :y

The green snot is a metal to metal small gap sealer as used on the fron cam caps and the older Vx 8 valve camcase to head joints.

The black snot is a more flexible silicon type sealant.....design wise its very different
