Title: another one for Lazydocker...
Post by: tunnie on 30 March 2010, 17:51:42
LPG Tank Rotated....

Initial fitting suggested it was at the wrong angle, as i could only get 64L into a 90L tank. Although they only fill to 80% still tad low.

I've rotated it, i pulled it down slightly, it seemed to naturally rest in its current position:

It won't sit 'naturally' at any point - its a perfect cylinder ;)

Read the bumpth on the valve, that will tell you what angle it needs to be at (seem to recall LD saying 30 degrees for your valve?)

Yup 30 degrees - Remember LD saying the plate should be level.

I know its round, but i only gave it a small wiggle and it went straight to that position, could not make it go back  ::)  ;D

I may have misunderstood (hopefully one of the lpg'ers can clarify), but think that means the valve has to sit at 30 degrees from horizontal. Yours looks nearer 45 currently?

Or have I got it A about Face?

Don't know  :-/

Just recall LD saying the plate with tank info on it, should be level  :-/

Looks better... And I think 30 degrees to the vertical is what you're after :y :y

Taking 64L means it wasn't far out... Run it completely out and see what you get on the next fill. Anything from about 69-75L is acceptable IMO.

As for the plate... It was a guess. Mine had a cross welded on it which I used for level :y :y

Cheers  :y

Ran it down very low so i could rotate it, but was going to wait for an OK before re-filling it.

Its almost dry, red light has been on for a while  :)

Other option is to wait until it's almost empty (now sounds ideal) and adjust it for a maximum reading on the gauge.

OR: wait for it to switch to petrol, tip it up a little and see if it'll run on gas, run until empty, repeat until bored. ;)

Tweaking using the gauge is hardly much effort. ::)

Expect the amount to vary by 5 litres or so each way as the pumps are temperature compensated and also deliver radically different flow rates so some may overcome the stop valve by an extra litre or so. Forecourt level also comes into it.

Asda high wycombe which will be my usual watering hole looks flat ish, what do you mean by tweaking the gauge?  :-/

Rotate the tank until the gauge reads highest... But do it with only a small amount of gas in the tank (5-10% showing on the gauge) or it won't work.

As I said, don't pay too much attention to the lights... They are notoriously inaccurate, although I did use the pre-installed figures for the gauge in the software as it was listed :y

It looks pretty good in it's current position. I reckon it's close enough :y

reckon i have just enough gas to get to cheapo station and re-fill at the same pump  :)

You need to run it until it cuts back to petrol (and wont run on LPG for longer than a few seconds) before filling so you know it's empty :y :y

Both of them!!! ;D ;D ;D

But I think you'd find the limits of the Vaporiser much more easily than Tunnie does ;) ;D

I think I found the limits of a 2.2 long, long ago ::)

As does my Rover, and the Golden Nugget, both exceeding the limits of your 2.2 by a margin ;)  (Well, the Rover to about 95mph, then it needs winding up. Apparently ::))
