YUCK!
got a blown 1.8 53 plate tddi come in, needing an engine, found one realy good price with everything on the block incl turbo, fuel pump etc etc..
£450 delivered, just dusted my engine crane down, now got to work on a horid bit of machinery with a funny oval shaped badge on it which doesnt have a griffin on it. unusual but hopefuly will be a profit in the car once refurbished!
it had a new gearbox 4 months ago!!! amazing what some forces spend on their cars sometimes.
-
Good luck with your 'project' :y
-
Is it worth fitting another 1.8 engine to an Omega Simon? :-/ :-/
I would have thought at least a 2.2 would be better ;) ;)

What the hell are you doing messing with a ford simon. ;D ;D

Its much easier to drop the box and engine out on the subframe on those.

the car has its bonnet off, and ready for work tomorrow.
Sadly with a lack of nice white saloon cars coming from the police due to vauxhall not replacing them with anything decent, i also have to dabble in such luxuries as ford focuses!
-
Good car, the Focus - class leader?
It'll sell alright mate. :y
-
i would think so, a 53 plate with a replacement engine, pump, turbo and a paint job, got to be worth couple and half k to the right person.
It will be mint when its ready, an the engine has a 3 month warranty on it.
the cops had put a new gearbox in recently too

Yes Simon, you are lucky not to be receiving the Skoda's from Kent Police! ::) ::) You would have to replace the gearbox on many of those if you did! :D :D :D :D ;)

God they're terrible.

The old engine is out, the new one is in, everything is done, just need to tow it to ford to programme in the fuel pump code so that it will actualy run!
Did a cambelt on it, piece of piss, stevie wonder would prefer the ford 1.8d to the 3.2i GM unit!

Oh they shift Del when necessary, but a number of them sound as though there is metal to metal contact, with a lovely screeching sound, when put into reverse! :o :o :o

tried to programme the pump in today using a snap on diagnosis system, but the battery was low, hopefuly can do it tomorrow, saving me £100 odd quid at fords on monday!!
-
success, £180 bill at ford SAVED thanks to my mate the mechanic next door, who programmed it using snapon computer. Got a 1.8Tddi with a tank of diesel to burn!

Hi Simon,
The TDdi was sold here as a 90Bhp, but also available as a 75Bhp in Europe I think.
Our first Focus was an 03 TDdi, the addition of Bluefin (Google it :y) saw it at 125BHp all via the diagnostic port.
Good luck with the sale

Hi Simon,

Only due to tax/eco reasons. 75 and 90 bhp are the same unit and only need ecu update.
Our first Focus was an 03 TDdi, the addition of Bluefin (Google it :y) saw it at 125BHp all via the diagnostic port.
TDDI can be upgraded to 105-110bhp. Have not seen any TDDI above 110 only upgraded using chip. Safe mods on TDCI can give you 125-130 bhp. Other thing is the turbo (waste gate), but it reduces the engine life.
MKII with a 2.0 TDCI PSA can be easy upgraded to 150bhp, which together with 6 speed gearbox gives a lot of fun.
Good luck with the sale
I bought one Focus obout a year ago, just to know the “enemy” and stayed with, so you never know ;) . TDDI can do 600miles from 50l tank, and has got much more space comparing to Vectra. It’s bit smaller than Omega, but for my family it’s even better (more headroom space, more space from boot floor to load cover).
And few technical bits:
There’s not subframe in Focus. All you have to do is remove the front (bumper, radiator), few other bits (4 bolts to exhaust pipe, accessible from the top of the engine). It takes max 2h to do it and then you can pull the engine with the gearbox (front bar is bolted not welded). Engine is installed on 2 mountings and it’s really easy to remove. Bonnet doesn’t have to be removed either.
Simon – can you please let us know what’s the mileage of your car. I had to replace one engine in 95k Focus diesel but just because someone was driving it with bent oil sump and oil light on. Diesels can do a minimum of 300k (TDCI will do less) if you service them correctly.
If you leave old diesel pump, it does not have to be programmed.
Cambelt is really easy, unless the camshaft pulley is not removed (there is no lock) and it need locking tools. Cambelt last for...100k (if a genuine Ford part)
