Well, having got shot of the old one, I have turned my attention to my new 18k 2.6 Omega. Unfortunately, what with the weather, school sports days, work and so on, I simply haven't had a moment to do anything to it. But I know I need to do something soon. Lack of time (and courage) suggests that the simplest thing would be to bung it in to Vx for a full service, cambelt change & brake fluid change. I don't have a service book, but I imagine this would be the equivalent of a 40k/4yr service plus cambelt. I also need to get a Car Pass (how to? how much?)
I suppose I am capable of doing most things myself (did a cambelt on the last one), but one look at that extended plenum and I am thinking - is that a wise move?
Of course, if I do get it serviced at least it will have some history, which makes sense on an 18k-mile car.
The interior is mega-showroom condition, with that lovely leather smell. However, under the bonnet is another matter.
How do I even start cleaning it up? Methinks my garden blower might be stage 1. ;)

As to cambelt - same as other one, only taken plenum off :)
If you want it serviced properly - do it yourself ;)

Kevin,
I would love to come, but I have to ferry one of my little ones to and from a birthday party in the afternoon, plus SWMBO has to work from 5.00pm, leaving the kids with me. :(

If you do decide to put it in for a 40K service Nick, please dont take it to Vauxhall. Find a decent independent :y
Isn't the Mitchell Brothers garage near to you ;D

Might be. Who's asking? Wanna punch in the mouth? Ow, all right, then, it's up Borehamwood way under the arches innit. They reckon it would take about a munf to service and they wanna use it for a bank job in the mean time. You don't 'ave a problem with that, do ya?
;) ;D
