Title: f.a.o hoofing it
Post by: raywilb on 20 April 2010, 13:02:11
its really an update john on the oil loss when my toe was down a bit. you may not have been too far off the mark when suggesting the dipstick. the d/s on my tractor needs a great tug to get it out of the tube & a good shove to seat it right. its quite easy to replace it, but not seat it right. hence the top seal is not in the tube. & as the oil was in the vicinity of the injector pump going back a bit. Iv,e been down the A1 today ,90,s most of the way a 2hour round trip & the oil is exactly as it was prior to my journey.   :y :y

Hi Ray all I know its a fancy gromit at the base of the tube just make sure the tube stays bolted to the manafold or as what happened to me the whole thing pulled out off the sump and v/x don't list the proper part just a O ring.
also I took 1 of the O rings off the dipstick and before pulling it up turn it a few times and slowly lift :y :y

Never had any trouble dipstick-wise, are you absolutely sure it's the right one for the car?   ::)
