Having posted a couple of weeks ago - my local coolcar aircon guy has just been.
Yup , will need a new condenser (what a surprise!)
Looking at it though, hardly surprising given that some of the fins were hanging out of the frame. (in the space between the condenser and the Radiator)
Paul said he'd never seen that before and was surprised given that the unit is so well protected.
What was amusing was giving him the 'Pre facelift condenser removal how-to' from this forum (which he's taken with him).
So top marks for
1. actually finding the problem
2. being honest enough to be grateful for specific info about the Omega
3. coming to me on a Sunday morning

Not to hard to change takes about an hour.
About 100 quid for a new condenser with dryer
