Title: Valeting Foggers?
Post by: Del Boy on 27 April 2010, 22:23:34
Are the fog machines which are used for valeting different to say a fog machine, that you would use in a party? The thing is I'm considering a valeting branch in my company, so I was wondering is there a difference? I believe there is but you're clever people  :y :y

Put fog juice in the machine which smells nice, nice flavours e.g vanilla, leave the fog machine on constant shut all doors windows etc, leave the fogger on for about 5-10 minutes it'll get in every nook and crannie you can find. Leave to settle for 15 mins after you turn off the fogger then wipe off residue  :y

This'll leave you with one lovely smelling car  :y :y

That's very kind Del, I think actually the numberplaes would be something I would be interested in...are you still thinking about doing this?
For example the Range Rover I sold had 'Mercedes-Benz of Ayr' on the plates. The Merc E220 CDI has another dealers name...so ideally I'd want to remove those and put new one's on. I've got a webstie ready to be uploaded so that would be ideal.
But, after spamming your thread about numberplates...I'll ask a valeter I know about these fog machines and see what he says.

I can never refuse a bit of discount  :P

I think you'd have good prospects for them, sell them on ebay and you could sell them on here with omegaowners.co.uk at the bottom.
One thing you'd need is the BSAU number, not sure if you have to be registered to use that though.

The licence allows you to use it I think. Its certainly something I'm still looking into.

I use up to 3 fog machines in my work place. I do not think I would ever consider putting it in my car !!!! they leave a residue on the steel surfaces at work, and tend to make wooden parts greasy.

Yes the fog will get into every nook and cranny, but what will the residue do if left hidded in radios, fuse boxes wiring connectors etc.

Just my observation of using these things almost daily.

Oh yes we have had 2 accidents where people have slipped on the residue.

similar theory to those aircon bombs you let off.

they always make the whole car smell fresh..

Aircon bombs actualy do something because they kill off bacteria.

Disco fog machines use a glycerine and water mix plus some perfume, this is not going to be good in a car.

All these fog machines can do is add smell, they cant clean beacuse to clean you have to actualy remove dirt and grime!

So, based on that, they will only cover up with perfume a poor valeting job (and valeting these days seems lower quality than it was say 15-20 years ago)

Yes and professional mechanics use air wrenches to....its meaningless.

You cant properly clean something by chucking a fog through it.

This was owned by a valeter (the van) he uses them, they seem to do the trick, he's not worked on cheapy stuff, Veyron's he's worked on for example. Inside it's been cleaned by me, not blowing my own trumpet here by thats means it's done properly.

a very quick google reveals cheap foggers are not the way to go, and there is a specific one recommended for not leaving everything covered in greasy residue.

and only £6 for a refil.

Not tempted, and dont want / need one, but be interested to hear your opinion when youve used it.

never heard of the process until this.

Had a valeting company many tears ago and obviously tried allsorts as and when available, but this does not appeal to me at all, got to agree with MDTM and personally would keep clear.

Autosmart , one of the companys I used used to have a product called vent fresh.  Same size bottle as an eyedrop bottle, one drip in each airvent was all that was required, every time the fans were on the car smelt gorgeous.  1 drop last for months.
