Title: Polish & Clay
Post by: Mikes1670 on 01 May 2010, 16:20:27
Hi all, I have heard about this clay product you can get to clean paintwork before polishing. Seems hard to believe that anyone would this product I can't imagine it would do the paintwork/lacquer protector any good. :-/ Anyone know how it works? or used the stuff? ;)

On the contrary, absolutely excellent stuff!!!!

It's not your common old potters clay, this stuff comes in a small bar and it'll remove nearly every imperfection (barring scratches, dents etc.) out of the paintwork. I'll find you a gallery link to someones claying efforts :y

Yep, as Wellung says it's top stuff. Takes all of the bonded contaminants off that washing doesn't. The paintwork feels like glass afterwards. Just make sure you wax it afterwards. Here's my daily after a good clay and wax session...

clayed my new car when i got it, as wellung said it's not pottery clay and you apply it with a 'quick detail' type spray which acts as a lubricant to stop it sticking.

Even after a good wash you'd be amazed at the crap it picks up, bits of tar and other contaminants, worth doing :y

What do you do with it? Just rub it over the paintwork? What do you use to lubricate it?

Very clean, I'm impressed. Has anyone tried that ultra PTFE - came across it on Ebay (£14-95 + P&P). It's supposed to leave the car with a teflon like coating (PTFE) and last much longer than normal wax polishes. 8-)
