Title: Surely it should have moved???
Post by: portomega on 10 May 2010, 05:21:49
Sorry to bother you Vauxhall guys with a question about my new Ford Mondeo lol  :( but........ im new to diesels and i filled it up on saturday for the first time to the brim, since then ive done just over 100 miles, but the needle on the fuel gauge hasnt moved at all :-? surely even in a diesel the guage would have moved at least a bit after that distance? or am i wrong?

You'll probably find that it'll move quite quickly when it does start moving, if you've filled it right up, you've got a filler neck full of deisel as well as the tank before the gauge starts moving, I see this on my car as well. Having said that though, an Omega is always going to be thirstier than a Mondeo  ;D

Seem to remember that those take a while to move, then drop quite quicker.  Remember, 100m is only a couple of gallons on those....

thanks for the replies guys  :y i did the stupid thing of adding £10 more to the tank this morning thinking that maybe the float had got jammed maybe at the top of the tank when i brimmed it hoping that more fuel would un-jam it ::) so i guess im going to have to wait even longer now to see if it will start to fall  ;D
