I understand a spare wheel LPG tank is the ideal choice in the Estate, to keep the load space... BUT my problem is, complete lack of range. Even raising the floor considerably, you can only get around 70l tank in there.
In my situation, I need an estate to carry dogs, that's the only reason.
So therefore, what would the thoughts be, on mounting a 100l tank in an Estate? I presume, there's nothing WRONG with doing this - it's just not what people commonly want?

There IS another way, usually done in mondeo or peugeot estates to get a 120 litre tank in the back. envolves a fair bit of cutting/welding, but have seen it done successfully three times now. The tank is flat shaped, in a oval design, made by MJR engineering locally to me, and goes from the rear bumper to the axle (shaped) and into the load area of the estate, raising the floor by 50mm and the original spare wheel well dissapears completely. James, there is nothing wrong with a cylinder in an estate except the loss of space/load through facility.
Sixstring, I'd be interested in seeing this option as I have looked at many options, including cutting the bottom of the wheel well out, but still can't get much bigger than 80L (including raising the boot floor) because of the shape of the petrol tank and the lack of clearance between the tank and the well.

Haven't seen it in a miggy yet, but the two I have seen were estates, and used the 120l (but only filled to approx 100l) tank purpose built to suit.
Involves a lot of boot cutting, but done well, looked almost OE, and most of the boot floor was cut away, and raised by 50mm or so. You do lose some load space,, but only a more than cursory look reveals the extent of modification.

Why not do what they do with the Range Rovers and replace the petrol tank with a smaller, couple of gallon tank as a reserve leaving space underneath for the LPG tank ;)

YES!!! pretty sure they only have a 2 gallon petrol tank in this conversion too, and use the space for a B-I-G LPG one!!

That's what I'd be inclined to do. Makes you more reliant on finding LPG, though. :-/
Plenty of places will fabricate you a fuel tank. It's just an ali. box, after all.

Get something that will sit offset to the driver's side under the boot and be fed from the usual filler neck. Remove the spare wheel well and weld in a flat panel then put the biggest toroid you can fit under there.
You might fall foul of the LPG tank being a bit close to the exhaust in places, but that can be mitigated using heat shields. You'd need to carefully check the ground clearance of the LPG tank but, again, you could probably mitigate that by protecting it from damage.
It's a bit more work, but the advantage of an estate is space, so it makes sense to maintain it IMHO.

Ahh... That explains it ;) I was going with the standard tank still in situ ;)
AFAIK, there isn't a custom replacement tank option for the Omega at the moment, although this is something I am considering looking into if I get the estate :y
