Title: Is there a paper clip test or similar for Vx Corsa
Post by: hubbardybubbardy on 12 May 2010, 09:55:03
Hello again everyone.

I know this is not a question regarding Omega's however I am trying to help a friend at work who has a 55 plate 1.2 corsa.  She has recently been having problems with the car coughing and spluttering, generally being lumpy and cutting out occassionally.  She took it to a Vx dealer who charged £70 for a tech test which showed that the cam sensor needed replaining.  This was replaced by Vauxhall the total bill being nearly £300.  However the car still has the same problem.  They now recommend that the ecu is changed at a cost of £800!!!!

Does anyone know if there is any way of checking for faults on the car in a similar way that paper clip test can be done on the Mig..... this would at least give me a heads up if there is any other fault that could cause these symptoms and avoid the cost of repeat visits, checks and unessessary expensive work being carried out!

Cheers all  ;D.

Paper clip works on 04 model, no reason it wont on 55 plate unless pin 6 is missing from the obd socket in which case its a code reader only job,

Ok i shall have a look at that, my second question before I do, does the paper clip test woprk the same way as the Mig and does anyone know where I could find the fault codes for a Corsa, I take it they are different to the Mig.

Cheers again.  :y

HB, I'm in the same part of the country to you and have the official "My Naff Code Reader" on my laptop if you want to get the codes read properly. I'm based near Merry Hell or could come to you if you're local enough :y
