The AA has just had to tow the car home ,suspected cam belt or tensioners .Hey ho life's a pain and all the rest  of that philosophical BS   ;D ;D

You might be lucky if you weren't going to fast or revving it highly. Best to pull the head off and see how many and how badly really :( I'm on the look out for a 2.2 head anyway so I'll keep 'em peeled for you as well :y

when was the belt, tensioners and water pump last replaced?

Tunnie .... the belt and all the rest of it were changed 2 years /10,000 miles ago .So I'm not a happy camper

I've just noticed you are in Manchester. I found a place in Wigan that are going to be putting in new valves for me, I'll let you know how it goes.
