I do not have the sizes of tyres to hand, so just asking in General, and I am talking Mitsubishi Galant.....
Was looking at some new wheel and tyre sets but they have lower profile tyres on, the wheels on the Galant do not really fill the arches so thought that these would look a bit daft.
Can I go up a wheel size or two and would any of these modifications affect the speedo reading, or do I really need to be measuring circumferences etc.... :)

But by keeping the rolling circumference the same surely the wheel/tyre combo wont fill the arch any better than what you currently have

Yes, I need to keep at least the same, not unlike some migs really the wheels sook a little small.... ::)

I thought the 17" facelifts on mine looked great, till I parked infront of my brother's 7 series. They looked timy compared to his 20" rims :-? :-? :-?
Actually, the whole car looked tiny .......

7 Series' are quite mammoth and Migs aren't exactly small :-/

depends if there's room to go bigger diamemter, is the spring cup or suspension in the way? but yes bigger diameter including the tyre will lower the gearing making it slower but more economical and lower reving, the speedo could potentially read more than actual but remember there is roughly 10% under reading already. Lower profile tyres will firm up the ride so smaller stutter bumps will be felt alot more, and of course the price of tyres will go up significantly in those larger less popular sizes.
Usual thing is to pick a bigger wheel diameter but lower profile tyre to keep the overall diameter/rolling radious the same the same as stock.
on the omega tech 2 has a setting for the wheel size to keep the speedo and auto box thinking the road speed is accurate...i believe?

let me know what tyres you have and what you're thinking of goint to and I'll work out the implications for you.
on-line calculators vary from inaccurate to unuseable - you should stick to the "wheel revs per mile" figure, the one that the tyre industry uses.
