What is the rally program, when do we expect to get progress updates
-
Well S2N is a few weeks away yet, little matter of Czech Wrecks to dispatch first. ;)
On the subject of Czechwrecks:
I am collecting the car from Marks place tomorrow night and will post up some pics of how it looks now, stickered up.
I will also add a link so anyone who wants to contribute to our (rather scary) petrol bill can do so. :D
From Thursday onwards we will be posting daily updates with pics on how things are going (and hopefully the car still will be!!)
-
Dave, you can count on me for a tenners worth of fuel to get you started.
-
Yep, I'll go a tenner :)
-
Yup, I'll stump a tenner as well, so long as the pics and tales come back regularish, so we can (sort of) join in too!! ;D
keep it between the verges, gents.... And have a hoot. 8-)
-
A tenner here as well. ;)
-
...and you can borrow one of Ronnie's TDs (if he still got any) for the trip which will further reduce the cost.. ;D
-
Doesen't work like that! Car has to be under £100. Many of the cars in the rally look like they cost a LOT more, but Daves Sennie definitely looks the UNDER £100 class! ;D
In fairness I have driven this Senator a few times and it is actually a damned good car and goes like a train. I think we may all be pleasantly surprised to see Dave and Mark win. EIther that or I'll have to tow them back from teh M25 on Day 1
DAVE - GB sticker!!!!!
-
Thanks guys. :D
Yes Fin, I will be getting the sticker, the beam adjusters and a first aid kit today. ;)
-
LB, PM me your Paypal address, and a tenner will float its way over to it....
-
LB, PM me your postal address please, I don't have PayPal...
-
LB - likewise, paypal addy by PM, please, so I can send before you go.
B
-
Tenner on its way - or it will be as soon as you post or pm a paypal address for it ;)
Best of luck to you both - Looking forward to the pictures and updates!
-
Good luck Dave and Mark!!!
On an S2N note, I'm pleased to say that the Team DV8 'Bargain Bucket' Omega made it's maiden shakedown run today on a 50 mile commute to Glasgow this morning. I'm happy to say that it completed the trip with a minimum of fuss and the only issue I had to report was that the spedometer is slightly 'optimistic' at times reporting an alleged 140 MPH when it felt like it!!
This in itself is a miracle because I've been predominantly responsible for the electrical and mechanical repairs and upgrades consisting of replacing the engine for one from a Calibra and many failed attempts at upgrading the brakes, (It's now runing a full set of brand new standard items!).
It makes you feel very paranoid driving a brush painted and stickered up wreck of a car amongst all the new silver BMW's and Merc's whilst constantly checking for any undue smoke/rattles or parts falling off!! ;D
-
Good Luck with the trip and have a safe one. :)
-
Rod - same applies to yourself, if you wish. A tenner to help its thirst on the run. PM me for a paypal address and I'll punt it by return.
Good luck
Broocie
-
I humbly accept your gracious offer Broocie!!! (Wow sponsorship from the local fuzz to drive a vehicle of questionable integrity on the Queens Highway!! Ya Dancer!! Wait till the boys at the car park hear about this!!! ;D ;) )
rodblack@hotmail.com
For the record, our fuel bill hopefully won't be as outrageous as LB & Mark's as ours is only a 2.0, (Although, I think we'll be struggling to compete in the reliability stakes!), but any help financial or otherwise will be gratefully received!!
Thanks a mill'!! ;)
-
Rod
Job done
Remember the pics and regular updates for the troops back here!! 8-)
-
Much obliged Broocie!!
The updates on our progress will be on a 'best endeavours' basis, but I'll see what I can do.
For the meantime, here's our steed as she looks just now...............

Unfortunately the spoiler fell off last night, so I reattached it with some bigger wood screws!!
Soon to be enhanced with some fins and jet intakes/exhausts. ;)
-
It dont look too bad Big Rod, will there be a few going to share the driving. :)

There are three in our team. The idea is that we'll share the driving, navigation/DJ and infantry/artillery positions throughout the trip!!
-
How long do you think the journey will take my dad is driving over to italy with work at the weekend delivering an exhibition stand as there usual courier company messed up. Great for him (Not).
-
We're going to be averaging something like 350 miles a day, so it'll take us four days from Calais. Some of the teams driving back estimate that if it's done non-stop so-to-speak, then it can be done in 24 hrs!! (I don't fancy that myself!)
-
I dont think I would like to do what he is going to be doing although they are following a seperate van up and sharing the driving between 3 people.
Going in a Diesel Merc Box Van so that should be interesting for them.
I think they will be doing the non stop option as the stand needs installing on the Monday I think.
-
I take my hat off to you guys
Too all doing the run Good Luck :)
-
When I go to south of france, we go non stop. In an Omega, its no hassle doing a 7am to 9pm stint with driver swaps every 4 hrours... ...gotta be 900 miles. Not sure how far naples is.

That's where your problem is, you should be using 6 inch nails ;D ;D ;D
-
Nailing the spoiler on! Quality Rod! ;D
Now set up a sticky for the Czechwrecks run where all updates will posted.
Also given paypal address fro those who requested. :D
Rod, when S2N comes around, the same will be done for you mate. :)
