a month or so ago i was the winning bidder on an omega elite, 2001 with slight cosmetic issues (bumper and bonnet needed replacing, spare parts present), also mentioned was that alot of engine work had been carried out to nurse it to good health and stacks of receipts to prove
now bearing in mind it was a 2001 x reg, i managed to get in there with £600 but when i arrived it was running rough, very lumpy and he said it would go when it warmed up but it didnt
this guy seemed very genuine and didnt avoid any questions but the paperwork he said he had wasnt there at all, so naturally (even though very cheap) i walked away
had i been single, i'd have bought it no question, and got it fixed up!!
ANYWAY! it's appeared back on ebay so i messaged him to ask about the issues possibly being resolved since i looked at it and all he's done is replaced the rocker cover gasket on one side cos it was leaking oil causing smoke. He told me its still running rough as hell and he just wants shut but he's stated in the advert that it runs absolutely spot on and the new owner will be impressed, he can only fault the cosmetic issues!!!
i know its not my problem, but it bloody angers me!!!

Always best to go and look :y i am supprised at how many cars sell on ebay without people first looking.

I would never buy a car without first having a good look around it.
ebay's good for small items & i don't agree with car sales going the highest bidder. There's always a lemon & a dishonest seller :(

If you remember the phrase, ' Buyer Beware ' You can't go too wrong, but you do feel a bit of pressure to buy if you are the highest bidder, just remember if the item description differs in any way, walk away, or barter a better price! :y

always remember going with a friend to buy a motor from the auctions.
not looking for anything in particular, just a bargain.
rover 75 sport (zs) came thru, very tidy on the passenger side. low bids, bumper wrecked on the drivers side front and back.
guess who bought it sitting in his seat?

thats exactly what i did, walked away, it just irritates me that he's now relisted it again as mechanically flawless even though he's admitted to me it's still running awful
i had no time to view before listing end when i bid back then as it was a 3 day, but i bid because i knew i could walk away

As mentioned, take a mate with you, there was a program on TV a few months ago where a guy went to london to pay for a car he won on ebay, he met some guys in a service station at around 9 at night, when he got there he was beaten up and his money was taken by the guys he met.

i originally took my brother, we're twins, and both 6'4 :y
either way, this car's sold again this morning at just £500, i should have left negative from my win the first time round but i forgot, and its no longer there, i hope whoever is going to collect it joins the forum first before paying!!

Something i've never done before, bought Green Goddesss in January on the bay and travelled to St Neots to collect it, drove back along frosty roads to find later the front tyres were inside edge-worn and illegal, the lock didn't work and needed new front discs.... :-?
after said issues were addressed and a full service she is running fine, passed MOT no advisories 8-) but will always check the car over in future
