Well i posted some time ago about having a stainless exhaust fitted to my omega and the prices that i got told about made me look a bit deeper and i have found a company in bristol who will do it for £350 all in but here is what i want to know, they said that they would put in a Y section just past the cats and then use larger bore pipe in to 1 centre free flow box then on the rear box which will also be free flow and then my choice of tail pipe, so i would end up with only one centre box and not 2 which is what is on it now. Has any body else got this sort of system and if so does the car go the same, faster or slower and what does it sound like because i'm wanting a deeper sound but not to much louder than it is :)

I have seen Omegas with this type of setup on them. They are recommending it because it's easier and cheaper to shape one pipe than a pair.
I wonder if anyone has noticed a performance difference. Strikes me that GM would have saved a few pennies on a single pipe if it made no odds. :-/

Well two of the ten places i phoned said they would build this type of set up and both said i would have better performance due to the freeflow box's and one of them said if i wanted more of a race car sound YES RACE CAR SOUND :D they would leave out the centre box so i would only have the cats and the rear box :-? also forgot to say most of the places i phoned said about 3 to 4 hours to build it on the car, is this the norm

Two young chaps own and run it. Basic operation but they know what they`re on about. Used them to supply and fit new flexi on my 2.2.. First class job :y :y

Yeah, close to me on Stover Trading estate, in Yate. Nice blokes, done three systems for me now, and know what they are doing. Incidentally, they do a lovely twin exit rear pipe setup for the omega( saloon only :'( :'() for not much more than you were quoted.
They can't do one for my estate.........boo-hoo.

Make sure they weld on the new mid sections after the flanges on the cats so they can still be replaced. :y

When all the stuffing (Horse hair) came out of my back box, the performance was better but have no idea on the MPG, allthough only 2.5 auto mine sounded like an F1 car on mid throttle from inside the car, no idea outside.
Taking the middle box out completely might destroy the MPG figure (not sure) but I (Personaly) dont think there will be any more power gain, maybe even a loss as I thought egines need a certain ammount of back pressure.
This is mine up to about 2k with all the stuffing out.
Soumds a lot better at 4k plus.

Just had a thought. If you go for the system with the single centre box, then get them to make up a straight pipe so you can swap it in place of the silencer and then you can try the straight thru from the cats or with the single box and compare note on performance and MPG. :y

That looks nice, have you noticed any change in your MPG plus is it just a little bit louder than the standard system or a lot more :)

sound was noticeable, but they will set it to how you want it to sound.
I had mine as a low-mid noise so when I put my foot down it gives the noise but just bimbling around it is a nice burble from the V6.
as for MPG didn't really notice any difference but I am mainly on short journeys but was slightly better when I did a run to stansted.
Although I must take it back in as I have had a new CAT fitted since last done (only had from cat back replaced) and I just want it resetting on the tuning

i had the center boxes removed on my 98 mv6 . omg it was so loud and the mpg went out the window due to the grin factor . and it also caused it to fail the mot on emsions due to the lamba sensors not likeing the lack of center boxes . so be warned
