Thanks for your reply. Have added my location.
There is no light showing, have put in smoke stop in oil with no effect!! The cars mint condition, and engine purrs beautifully, high mileage, 184,000, hence smoke i suppose.
Do you think this will be an expensive job to put right.
Any ideas, comments appreciated!!!!!!! :-[

blue smoke usually means oil coming through the exhaust i'm afraid, you could get a compression test done or watch if your oil level is going down, mot will fail on emissions, could be time to look for a new miggie, bound to be a good one for sale within these forums  ;).

either valve stem oil seals or pistone bore wear/piston rings.  The latter is pretty terminal unless you fancy reboring the cyclinders and all that malarky.  A properly conducted compression test will diagnose whats wrong and that means NOT getting a garage to do it  >:(

take the spark plugs out and look at them that will tell you if the rings etc have gone and which one is leaking, depending on what sump you have on its easy to change rings, but a full sump engine has to come out, failing that there are a few good places to get another engine around £150, seen some less.

if all else fails and you really like your mig you could do a engine transplant :) if you like the 2.0ltr you could put in a red top or somthing? can pick eninges up quite cheap and just got your fitting charges for it.
