The oil seal is leaking on the output shaft of the steering box on my 1997 2.5v6. Anyone know the part number for a replacement seal set and where to get one from.
-
Is it definitely the output seal? could it be running down from the fluid line connections?
To change the seal you have to undo the big nut (vv tight) and pull off the output arm which is likely to need a special puller because of the restricted space.
It might be easier to replace the complete box. I have a dead box in the garden, I will look to see if the seal numbers are visible.

It's in at a local garage and they say it's the seal. They restore old LandRovers and say they replace the seal on those.
Thanks.

Had a look at my old steering box, no seal numbers visible as they are hidden under the output arm.
Has anyone got access to EPC and can look up the Vx part number please?

Thanks for looking anyway.

It's not shown. It's the seal around the shaft that item 27 (the steering arm?) fastens onto, inside the box (item 1-9).

look at this one then... i can't find anything else in epc :(

Not in that one either. The first one had the steering box in. Maybe seals aren't available on their own for this.
Thanks for looking.
