Title: Had a look at this today.
Post by: feeutfo on 04 July 2010, 19:46:40
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201025361895850/sort/pricedesc/usedcars/body-type/estate/model/omega/make/vauxhall/page/2/radius/1500/postcode/rg64da?logcode=p

Promising ad apart from the mileage, mv6 estate with heated sports black leather and 2013 with CID. Condition not up to scratch as mine is in better nic with similar miles and year, but it needs a lot of work so not worth my bother tbh.

Any thoughts.. .? Someone here may want it though. Silly bugger wouldn't let me drive it, must be hiding further faults I guess. :-/

Would you be happy for someone to drive your car if you weren't sure they were insured to cover for it if the worse was to happen ?.  ::)

But, if you're a proper trader you have motor trade insurance with demonstration cover, which I have. He either isn't a proper trader and doesn't have trade insurance, or there's another reason why he wouldn't let someone drive it.
My motor trade insurance covers anyone to drive a car I'm selling for the purpouses of test drives/demonstrations, which is essential.

private sale maybe not, but this guy is a trader. But either way, who's going to buy a car, thats deliberately advertised for sale, without driving it? would you?

anyway, i think the guy paid too much for the faults and mileage to leave room for profit his end. He says he's had daily interest, yet nobody bought it. Says it all really.

from looking round it it needs, front discs and pads, cam cover gaskits, the exhaust sorting(long life genuine double exit exhaust rattles) some ott vibration from the engine, codes 0420/30 1614 and 0460 are incorect imobiliser code and or fuel level sensor incorect signal, or something like. Every body panel has either rust or damage axcept possibly rear drivers door. Pass side rear arch not bad, possibly re paired as the drivers side arch is worse nic than mine. Also, heat shield bolt missing from pass side bank, possible head work perhaps, the guy recons due to the exhaust fitting (sigh) cats look original backed up by the pre cat codes, exhaust is cat back onlykso i doubt it.
Interior looks ok, all discs play and change. Two car passes present, mayge head unit retro fitted?

oh, all dash lights come on and go out.

Thats going to be the problem with any Omega now i feel, nearly every single one you will look at will need cambelt kit, coolant, oil, breathers, suspension and so on.  :(

Things like cambelt its only going to be someones say so, even if there is a garage receipt, who's to say tensioners were not changed? Its just not worth the risk in my opinion, just spent £2k on a car, might as well spend another £150 on a good service.

When we got our Facelift Elite Estate, we changed the cambelt, even though paper work said less than 10k ago, very nice couple sold it to us, had no reason to doubt them, but just better to be safe than sorry.

You know the timing will be spot on and its good for 40k

traders just hope people will kick the tyres like the colour and hand over the cash. But i wonder, anyone clued up enough to want an omega in the first place would know the faults and problems with them. This guy kept making comments like "how many people are going to notice that" and "we just pass that stuff over the new keeper" and so on, excuse after excuse, all 'dangle berries'. Dont think they've had many omega's through the books.
