OK, back from last weeks travels, and doing my fuel expenses claim. Just worked out my average mpg for 1, 260 miles.
32.8 MPG!!!!
And that's in a 3.0V6 estate, loaded to the gunnals, with triple ladders on the top, and not hanging around on the M5/6/33/27 or M4 home.
WELL PLEASED. Who needs a TD wheasel?????
Going to Scotland soon....................
(forgot to add....used cruise control a lot, and fully serviced before I left.)

That sounds pretty decent to me SS 8-) :y :y

People think your lying when you tell them the MPG with a 3.0 car :D
Well done :y

I think the weight of it makes it roll down hills, rather than using fuel, (if that doesn't sound too nutty) and cruise control DEFINATELY helps when on a motorway for a long time to keep mpg up IMHO.
Really am so pleased, it justifies me buying the 3.0 over the 2.2 I was originally going to buy because the 3.0 was too thirsty supposedly. The advice I recieved on this forum made me buy the 3.0V6 and I have never regretted it.
Only hope the 3.2 is just as good, cos I want a 3.2 estate elite in black next (josh................I'm saving up, can you keep it a bit??? LOL!)
-
Thats really interesting.
I had a brand new 3.0 V6 Elite estate once, kept it for 2 years and only managed to get 25.8 as an average over that period of time.

Just being silly here.......the previous owner put the last 120k miles on it, and its done 152k now.
Seeing that 99% of his miles according to him were MOTORWAY miles, and oil etc changed every 8k (have got most of the reciepts, so he was truthful) could it be that because the engine was "run in" on motorway speeds and mostly used above 70 mph MAY have a lot to do with the reason it does such good MPG??????

Hi,
Im new here having just bought a 2.2 .... and today I was on the a69 driving down a slight decline at about 60 mph... and my instant fuel reading wasl 108 mpg..... dya believe that.... it says somewhere in my handbook that the engine
does some magic goind down hill and lets it freewheel a little... how on earth does it doe that.......
60mp on a light throttle. flat road... 83mpg..... amazing
but then theres the sport button..... 9.7 mpg when overtaking... but Im just getting used to that bit ;)
cheers

if you get more than 25mpg average from a 3 your not driving it right, if i am very good i can get 27 out of ours, but 'normal' conditions 22 :D

with 2.6 I'm having 8km/L on average. heavy on the pedal.
with easy drive on motorway gets to 11km/L 8-)
