Hello all, having had two omega's over the last 15 years I now realize just how little I know about them.
Having read many threads it seems there are lots of variants so this would be my perfect vehicle.
A 2003 rhd factory built elite estate with all the extras, fitted with the bmw spec 6 cylinder 2.5 td engine & a 5 speed auto box.
Was such a vehicle ever produced & where would I have to go to find this ultimate vehicle?
Kind regards.

Not possible. In 2001 Vx fitted their own 2.2 DTi, Europe got the 2.5TD, but we had to make do with the Vx lump, which is also only available as a manual, no autos :(
-
So I could find my ultimate vehicle built in 2001 but would it be a 5 speed rhd auto & was there any spec changes between 2001 & 2003?
Kind regards.

Has to be up to 2001 (so really a 2000 plate) , Facelift BMW TD's are very rare, even more so in Elite spec. Words rocking horse and poo come to mind!
Facelift 2.5TD was available in both manual and auto, but your better in the manual as it can be chipped back to full BMW spec.
Spec changes in Elite 2001-2003? Alloys where changed late 2002, parking sensors also added around this time. Also had rain sensing wipers added, but for some odd reason the rear blind was dropped

You won't find many, if any, up for sale if you still insist on a 2.5 TD engine manual or auto.
As Tunnie says after 2001 they stuck the 2.2 Vx engine in.
And recent searches reveal not many Facelift TD estates about, for sale anyway. In Elite spec as well :-? that would be a challenge :-/

Thanks for both of your replies, so I could fit parking sensors & change the wheels, what about fitting rain sensor wipers & would this be a 5 speed auto.

No UK spec Omega got the 5 speed auto, all 2.2 DTi's will be manuals too.
Alloys can be changed if you wish, rain sensing wipers, doubt it, also likey to be expensive. Also few people that have had them, preferred manual variable control you get on earlier models.

Thanks for all your info, I think I will stick with what iv'e got.
It seems we in the UK have been shafted again by another vehicle builder, it's no suprise that the UK is called treasure island by the motor manufactures.
Should I need an estate at a later date I will look at the BMW 5 series as it seems to have all that I should have been able to get from GM.
But only as a point of interest was my ideal vehicle ever produced for a foreign market?
Kind regards

A 2.5 diesel (DTi) unsure which engine, was produced for other European countries, not sure which one's.
Also don't know what gearbox options came with it.
Take a look at this......Translation needed

actually that could well have the 5 speed box, sounds like the Y25TD engine :y
That is the only engine that ever got that box :y and never released in the uk either
edit....pic 7 clearly shows its a manual one :y

Hello all, the more answers I get the more questions they raise.
First question. Who makes & what is the Y25TD engine?
Second question, what is the 5 speed auto box & who makes it?
Kind regards.

Y25TD is the later 24v BMW 2.5 straight 6 diesel
Boxes are badged GM, but i don't know who actually manufactures them :-/

Y25DT 6cyl diesel and 5L40E 5 speed gearbox were never fitted to Vauxhall cars, thus never available in the UK.
Not sure if Opel ever made a RHD varient
-
Opel did make a RHD Omega. Japan drives on the same side as us in the UK, and Japan did get the Omega. I've just done a quick search and they are available. I have seen an imported Japan spec Omega here in the UK. So in theory, it could be possible. I have seen some 2003 Omega's advertised on Japanease car selling sites, but unsure if the 2.5 DTI was available there. In theory, it would then be possible to just import here, and you'd have a RHD 5 speed auto DTI Omega.

The picture in the bay link.
Also shows no info display from what I can see???
I suppose it's a case of finding and fitting the 5speed td into your favourite omega, or importing your favourite omega from Germany and convert it ti right hand drive?
-
Thanks for the info, I will start to contact the import sites to see what they can find, I will keep the thread informed of my progress.
