Title: Fitted facelift mirrors
Post by: gstylebaby on 09 July 2010, 19:56:07
Well i finished painting my face lift mirrors clear coat the lot.  Took off the pre face lift ones and put them on only to find my old ones have the memory settings (3.0l  elite) and these don't bugger :-[.....So now i have to look for another set or try and change the motors and wiring over that is if they can be swapped over bugger bugger. ;D

My guess would be that you can change the inner workings, therefor keeping the memory function. Just pop the mirror face off and look see whats hiding inside.

IIRC it's all quite fragile in there though so dismantle with care

I have a feeling the "Innards" are identical, anyone confirm/deny?  ::)

I thought all the memory function was dealt with by a control box under the drivers seat..... the mirrors themselves dont have any memory as such.

Maybe the F/L and Mini F/L Mirrors are incompatible when it comes to the memory function?

I'm only quoting form those that know. ::)
Elite mirrors have a feed back system that tell the controllers that the mirrors have actually reached the desired position  :y

Yup  :y

Elite mirrors have feed back for memory settings, if you've bought non-Elite mirrors, they won't work with memory system

I have noticed that the pre face lift ones have about 9 wires to the plug were as the face lift ones that i have only have about 4 or 6 i think but the wire inside gose though the center peace of the springy thing if that makes any sense. ::)  Which makes it look abit of a pain to swap over..Can see me selling these and getting hold of another set or just living with them for the amount of time i use the function.....Oh could always get another set swap over the covers and then sell the other set just more expense i could do with out.... ;D ;D
