Title: Strangest place to install a bose 8 speaker system
Post by: david_omega on 11 July 2010, 23:04:56
well, not put much on here, being its not an omega, but we took on a T4 pannel van 8 days ago,   8 days later, it is a full camper van with windows, tornado red paintwork, a visual / audio ICE instal, cookers, sinks, flooring, walls, Merc AMG SL55 AMG alloys with 4 undersized tyres, lowered etc...

I had on the shelf a set of Bose speakers from an elite, so,  with the two front (the only) speakers in the van U/S (one torn, one crakley) (well, they are 19 years old!). i put the rear door MIDS into the hole, (exact fit) and same connector,
have now put the rear subs and the omega front door speakers into the bulkhead under the seats in the front, and wired in an amplifier,
the sound quality is incredible.

they are running sound from a flip out monitor with dvd and radio and ipod / iphone input.

we built a custom dash to house everything, including a second monitor for the reversing camera
(yes, being a dum ass i bought a unit that didnt have a camera or video input hense used an extra screen!) looks good though.

we also put a tv screen into the back of the van (which my electronics whiz mate jason, re wired so it ran off the 12v part of the circuit board! (wont work 240 again but who cares).
so, now have THREE monitors in the van.

couple pics bellow:

i also have an elite project on the go, that will be uploaded in a week or two once finished!

My brother is looking for one of those to do a camper conversion.

If running Bose speakers from anything other than a Bose amp, be aware that they are 2 ohm. :y

cheers, i used a small 150w amp running all 4 speakers, on minimal amplification, seems to be doing the trick.

gone are the days of large subs and big amps, infact about 10 years gone!

Nice van and amazing to think you did all the work in only eight days, my Mates in the process of converting a Mercedes Vito into a camper van, he's been at it for about eight months!!

T4 pannel van ...with... Merc alloys

How did they fit on, did they need machining?

most external amps will be quite happy with a 2 ohm load (except head units and cheapos )

well the rear door speakers (mids) are running off the head unit, no problems, but will bear in mind if ever have a set on the shelf again, and repeat this rare instal.
