Can anyone give me a rundown on the v6 and turbo variants with auto tip box? 2.8 litre and front wheel drive making access to the engine a total mare I would think? The later models keep catching my eye, but spare in the boot floor re LPG I guess? :(

IIRC the auto boxes are rubbish and don't last long:(
-
if its the same ones as VeccyC gets they barely last 70k with any real power going through them :(
-
Autoboxes are crap, but the 2.8 Turbo is a fantastic engine :y

Ok so would have to be manual.....better economy I suppose.

Don't expect a 2.8 to be economical though, even with the manual box unless you drive like miss daisy which is really very hard. I could get 35 MPG on a run from my SAAB with the same engine and manual box, but average after it was driven like it was supposed to be was 12 MPG :y

Was thinking the other day about an engine from the vectra vxr 2.8T in an omega. Nice i think ;) ;)

A quick bit of info for you Chris;
3.0 V6 CDTI, nice engine but don't get auto, as laready stated it'll die very soon.
2.8 V6 Turbo, again nice engine. In the Vectra the V6 Turbo Elite's only came as auto, wheras the VXR was manual. In the Signum, you can get both auto and manual. I have driven a 2.8 Vectra manual, and though it was very very nice, although did torque steer quite badly, but pulls well in any gear.
I know someone with a 2.8 V6 Turbo Signum manual, I'll see what he thinks of it.
