Omega is gettin alot of work shortly, part of that is a lower mileage/serviced/partly rebuilt engine :)
However... which V6 is best, the 3.0 or worth going 3.2? Its currently a 3.0 prefacelift..or is it even possible to use better bits from the 3.2 etc? Possibly looking at fast road cams aswell
My knowledge of migs isnt great, thought it best to ask the gurus ;D
-
there is no 'better' one, each has up sides and downsides
-
So which would be the best in regards to general maintenance, repairs, design and base for more power? lol

Nothing between them... ...though I understand the 3.2 has a stronger crank. 3.2 has better manifolds, but believe you can retrofit (with some work) to 3.0
-
The 3.2 manifolds was the only point ive heard mentioned before. I knew there isnt much between them, which was making me think to stick to 3.0 as it'll also be less hassle insuring
-
if you are going to lpg it 3.0 is easier and 3.2 complex due to lambda setup (unless you call experts here)

3.2 is easier to LPG due to more space to mount injectors...
-
Wont be lpg so no need to worry bout that :y
-
All 4 V6s have their plus an dminus points, there is a good reason for every one.

If you swap for a DBW engine (2.6 and 3.2) then there's gotta be some wiring and ECU issues as well as any mechanical differences?
After all, you'd be doing away with the bloody awful EGR system, the coil packs are completely different, maybe the injection system is different too?
Just some of my thoughts.....

It's a lot easier to LPG IMO.
.... and for others reading, for me 3.2 is easier to own for the same reason, that being far less clutter under the bonnet. Icv sai cruise box egr, throttle cable gubbins, plug leads and coil PAC all missing.
However coil pacs are expensive, although far easier to replace, and maf's less reliable. Pedal trick is far more help with obd2 codes that also identify which cylinder is missing. But then there is the pre cat issue, although that's more irritating than anything.
Face lift interior suffers with the tactile finnish scratching off, but personally I don't like the pre face lift door cards.
Swings and roundabouts I suppose. But I prefer the face lift shape so that's that...for me.

However, with a little work you can make a 3.0 DBW and get rid of the SAI, EGR and Dispack plus fit 2.6/3.2 manifolds as I know someone who has done it lol x x x

Can open, worms everywhere ;D

My v6 is the best in the world so there :P :P :P :P.....Just ask the chav in the saxo who tried tailgating me yesterday on the M54...He daye like it 1 bit..... ;D ;D ;D :D :D :D

What are the differances between 3.0 and 3.2 manifolds ?
-
access to the left hand coil pack and plugs is none too easy on a 3.2. :(
neither of the ex plod 3.2s that i've owned have had egr valves :) makes them a bit less complicated i guess. :-/

What are the differances between 3.0 and 3.2 manifolds ?
Easiest way to describe the difference is 2.5/3.0 manifolds are heavy cast steel which are quiet restrictive, where as the 2.6/3.2 are a far lighter tubular looking manifold.
Hope that helps.

Not really, and probably easier than 3.0/2.5 :y

But taking the ignition system as a whole, i prefer 3.2 as it's one component plus plugs. 2.5/3.0 the dis PAC is a right be-atch to swap out in comparison, and one less thing to diagnose. I would far prefer to swap out 3.2 dis than a set of leads, but then swapping plugs is a bit more aggro.

DLK - whats required in fitting the 3.2 manifolds?

Being honest alot of patience mate.
Just the 2.6/3.2 manifolds plus the gaskets make sure you get 2.6/3.2 gaskets else you will be stripping everything you have done. You will need to cut some off the lip of the cat that goes into the manifold .
Hope that helps you :)

Cheers, no major work then, pretty "plug n play" :y

No it is just such a pain I actual prefered to remove the heads on my own :D

Another thread strangely becomes a "sticky" after Daz posts in it .....
Gremins or "finger trouble" .. :)

and unstickied again ;D ;D ;D

Eh? why is that then? :-?

Hopefully, the engine that is being worked on will be out of the car anyway, and possibly getting the cams changed... so sure i could work something out ;D
i neglected to change an exhaust gasket on a previous v6 purely because i couldnt be bothered getting into it lol

If the engine is out of the car then mate you are laughin :y
All you need is
2.6/3.2 Manifolds
2.6/3.2 Manifold to Head Gaskets
A few Bolts and Nuts incase
2 O ring Gaskets where the CAT joins the Manifold (this is where you will need to grind/cut some off the lip on the CAT)
;)

Thats magic, cheers! :y

Honda NS-X - that's the best V6

:-*
Mate of mine had one, sold it, went through a succession of Westfields, A Honda S2000, numerous other cars, and all he learned was that he was a prat for selling it. ;D
