Cant stand the blue one but the white one is the nicest car I have ever seen in my life (apart from the interior)

Nail on head, I think. As if they weren't vulgar enough in standard form.
Now the mighty have fallen since the Germans took the reins.

Yes, RR has certainly lost the charm and delightful lines of the Silver Ghost of 1906, but I think that started in the 1970s when they became very mundane with a suspect finish.
They have become huge Germanic beasts now........but I would still like one!! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;)

The current German-made cars are technological titans without doubt but seem to have lost the elegance of their predecessors.

This, to me, will always be the classic Rolls Royce; the Silver Ghost:

In the 1960s my brother had a Dinky model of this car and just loved the wonderful lines and attractive colour. In real life they are even more brilliant. :-* :-* :-* 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

Yes eveyone built by craftsmen, and therefore, like all machines in the pre-computer age, each car was unique and individual.
This applied to craftsman built aircraft, ships, and I well know steam railway engines, often lined up say in the Great Western Railway 'A' shop in Swindon, with string and human visual skills acquired over years of experience. Every machine would have its own character. 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-).
Mind you after watching the documentary on Rolls Royce Trent jet engines being built I now realise that even in this high tech, computer driven age, machines can still be unique.
I loved the fact that each turbine blade, although precision made to very fine tolerances, had to be individually balanced and sighted in its own unique slot on the turbine 'ring'. ;) ;)

It is an absolutely fascinating and engrossing documentary, which for us who love engineering it teaches so much and highlights how Britain is still great in this field if no other! :D :D 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;)

i like rollers and bentleys and for around 20 grand the price of a new mondeo you can buy a amazing arnage or somthing.
if you look on ebay theres some cracking big rolers out there that cost 150 grand new and still look current models.
i have had the chance to buy a roller but spent the money on a mitsubishi evolution :D

An old friend of the family runs a wedding car hire business and has a old roller with an open cab front and enclosed rear, has isolator type swith gear on the dash.
Chassis number is 002 or 007 I really cant rember, he hads a paint/body shop business and allways gets the car hand rubbed down everty year and gives it a repaint
No idea what model it is but loks similar to this. nut as mentioned the front cab is open.

no its just a fast car lol.
i also have a escort cosworth and a mate of mines dad has one that he races. his has 800 hp and does 3mpg on race fuel that costs £20 a gallon lol.
makes a roller look economical that does ;D

yes, anything Mansory are likely to do has got to be tacky.
..... and yes, they're incredible value for money. I bought my Bentley Mulsanne Turbo for £4050 off ebay. Running costs are, well, high. Apart from the fuel efficiency (which I've resolved never to measure), the parts prices are a bit steep.
I'm currently doing a full suspension and hydraulics rebuild - the front suspension alone needs 12 separate bushes, the cheapest of which is £59. the rear "donuts" are £225 each ( 4 required )
Still, I maintain that it's definitely worth the money - even if I've had the worst ever day at work, by the time I'm at the car park gate on the way home, I'm in a great mood. And money just can't buy that.
p.s. since bought a Silver Shadow, too ::)

Watched "Wheeler Dealers" ruin^h^h^h^h restore one yesterday and was a bit shocked at the parts prices they were being quoted. :o

The price for the double headlight conversion parts was certainly sobering :-?
The thing that I can't understand is that they make it appear so easy. ;D
-

That's because they cut out all the cursing and swearing, and all the cars that turn out to be such rust buckets they aren't worth bothering with. ;)
Kevin
-
yes, it's definitely well staged.
you can do the twin headlamp conversion for about a grand if you try really hard and use secondhand stuff.
Even I agree that it looks better.
but I'll still not be doing it, even if it's just because every other one has had it done.
-
i think with bentleys and rollers the best thing to do is get the best cheapest one,if you can't do the work yourself or like paying for paint welding etc etc your gonna make a bad car reasonably better when you could just find a cracker and knock a chunk off and relax knowing you got a good car needing nothing and the last well funded owner paid all the big bills before you bought it.
-
someone has paid for £ 114,000 depreciation on mine !
-
Lot of money for Rolls Royce that looks very tacky!!!
