Title: Many thanks Mr DTM
Post by: TheBoy on 27 July 2010, 23:10:42
Thanks for your help this evening, as always, much appreciated :y

I'm glad I gave up with that when I did and left it to someone more experienced :y

Its embarrassing that I couldn't even change my own oil :o  :-[

I've never the pleasure of meeting Mark, but when anybody has a problem they can't fix, Mark's always the one to do it  :y

I think you should claim compensation from whoever sold you the car  :D  :D
At least £3.56 and perhaps a chocolate bar to show good will.
Had it just been overtightened?

Are you free, or more to the point is your MV6 free sometime in the day this week? Do you want me to take it over to the paint guy? I need to go sometime this week anyway to check on my estate.

That is understatement of the century.

Some idiot had done a right number on it.

And the oil that came out of it, I wouldn't mind betting the oil was considerably older than the service history suggests ;D ;D

Precisely why I don't let 'mechanics' go near my cars.

The MV6 is in daily use this week, I'll have to get back to you on that one  :'(

I'd never let a VX dealer touch any Omega I own, I'd be too worried about what they'd do to it.
But as you say, SH doesn't always tell the full story.

No worries, whenever it's free we can get it sorted.
I can ask him for a ball park figure before he sees it to confirm price and what needs doing etc, but I can't remember what it was that needed doing? Rear arches, doors and was that it?

I've just won a 2003 '52' 2.6 Elite saloon in star silver on ebay, it's done 153k miles, my bid was £1070 but it didn't hit the reserve. I only bought it to take the leather for my black saloon. I may end up breaking it, not sure...but if I do you can have the doors. If you have a quick look through ebay completed listings you'll find it. It's got black wheels  :-[ which I hate with a passion.

Gonna be the most exspensive interior ever if you give the parts away just because you want an interior.

600mm breaker bar and a large pair of stilsons. It was tight to the point where I removed the whole housing to check it for damage!

The oil filter was VERY old and cruddy and the sides had started to collapse!

The sump plug was excessively tight to but all now fitted back on at the correct torque.

No point and no benefit now its fitted correctly

In theory, the cartridge filter has a larger surface area as well.

nowadays I have big problem with the mechanics even with 'friends' class.. let the incorrect torque problem (I dont remember any of them using correct torque values from the history of earth >:()
I want to see they do their jobs without breaking anything, dropping something on rims and finish in appropriate time.. One day I'll kick sh*t out of their a*rse >:( >:(

ps: and I dont sum up the cost of unnecessary parts I changed before because they dont have necessary measuring devices and the required knowledge.. >:( >:(

pps: Mr DTM any chance or plan to travel here  :'(

I think the same cem. Fortunately, I have friends like mdtm (and others on here) who I can trust to do a proper job.

I did watch his every move last night, but purely to learn :y

Not much good 'in hand' - needs to be 'in box'!  ;D
