He's after a Skoda, as the 2.2 struggles to do 45mph in the middle lane...

Hope he gives it a good clean before selling it. ;D ;D ;D

New owner might want to perform surgical operations in the engine bay rather than just eat their dinner off the engine. ;)

2.5/2.6 is just as economical but way more powerful, 2.2 is a easy peasy to work on thanks to loads of space.

I like the sound of my v6 now but i want sumat that will last me for approx 5yrs or so and stand up to abuse of motorway miles every so often and round town every day....I`m torn between this 2.2 and a E39 530d tourer i`ve seen...... :-/ :-/

Yep and thats what worries me...I would not be able to care for it as much as Barry has and that is a big concern for me.....I would be hung drawn and qaurtered by the forum for letting it get dirty or fall into a bad state of repair...... :o :o Plus i may be jumping the gun here a bit as i aint got my hands on my inheritance cheque yet(makes me sound like a money grabber)....... :-X

2.2 is not bad, its not fast, but its no slouch. It will cruise at 80mph all day long just as well as the V6's

My 2.2 is almost silent at the 80 cruise, unlike many V6's i've driven which have a slight droan

would that slight drone be a sort of 'ever so slightly, possibly, maybe, perhaps been abused a bit in the past' diff whine? ;D

No, diff noise is very rare. Its shite pattern exhausts that drone!

Dont compare all the V6's with the example you have ;)

Was going to say - no drone from my V6 until it's up to speeds unattainable by a 4 pot. ;)

My eternal is definately noisier than the GM I had on before at 80mph, but not anywhere near as bad as Tunnie's v6

Yep. Mine got marginally worse when the gen. one failed. Soon got used to it though. It's only under load that it makes any noise so cruising is fine.

Mine is also blowing through one of the cat-to-mid pipe flanges. I went under to nip the bolt up last time I changed the oil, but, on seeing the state of the bolt, decided to leave it be. ;D

When doing an oil change on it yesterday i noticed it has a Bosal system, its bloody awful though, really nasty drone at speed. Looking forward to replacing that when it goes
