Sister in law has just bought a toyota aygo 1.0L,and it seems to idle a bit lumpy.Anyway the bloke at the garage who sold it reckons its because the emissions are so low,causing it to run like that.Is this correct?,me personally have never heard anything like that,but could be wrong. :-/

That's total rubbish, for a start. Emissions are low because it's got a small engine. ;)
No reason why it shouldn't run smoothly. A colleague of mine has one and, for what it is, it is reasonably refined, IMHO.

Had one as a hire car in Cyprus a couple of years back... ...idled fine. Nice little car to be honest.
We arrived at Paphos after midnight, no sign of our hire cars (turns out, there had messed up the days), so go to only hire place still open. They have 1 Aygo. "We'll take it"
There were 10 of us (family hols), all with luggage, and we're staying about 15mile/45min away in Coral Bay. And one Toyata Aygo. Oh, how we laughed (NOT!). I popped my case in the boot, and that was the car full. Mum started heavily on the wine in the airport carpark ;D
Fortunately, we have friends out there (we were staying at their place, sleeping on sun loungers/lilos etc, the first night due to flight dates and villa dates not tying up), who actually came out on the same flight as us, so we had use of their spare space in their own car, so all was done and dusted in a couple of trips.
The other hire car turned up a couple of days later, a real shitbox, Hyundai Matrix 1.3 3-speed automatic. I ragged the tits off it trying to keep up with my brothers Aygo (and failed).
So thats my lasting memories of a Toyota Aygo ;D

Have had two different ones as loan cars whilst mine in for work, wotta loada rubbish!1 should have called it the "Toyota AGGRO" first one broke down, so they brought me another one, and that one sounded like someone had put a ball bearing in one of the pots!! Had done only 30k, but drove and sounded like 130k.
I know everybody that had ever been loaned it had ragged the arse off the poor little thing, but..................
