Title: Pre-facelift Vectra B GSI Springs
Post by: twiglet on 03 August 2010, 10:18:21
Hi there.

My father-in-law owns a '99 T plate Vectra GSI estate, and needs to replace all 4 springs.  He enquired at his local Vauxhall dealership and was told that these were special MSD items, so they could give him no information whatsoever!!   ::)

Does anyone know what make of springs were originally fitted, where they can be sourced from now, and how much they are likely to cost?

I have a feeling that might be Bilstein's, but I might be wrong....

Cheers

Try a different Vauxhall Dealership. They are franchised.  Some are great, some are good, and some are absolutely shite.  Yours must be the latter.   :(

they might be right - I think the GSi was an "aftermarket" conversion conducted by MSD

ha ha ha....what numpty told you that......gsi's started out as standard sri's,all msd done was the engine, bodywork and interior, and when released in '98 the sri and gsi share the same sport suspension.. if going to vauxhall better if you know what letters are on the spring, but they won't be cheap, about £150 just for fronts...

i have a gsi outside.
gsi suspension is 20mm lower than standard sri suspension.
Usually a full suspension set up for a gsi goes for around £50 to £80 on ebay.
New springs are about £65 a corner from a stealer.
msd didn't just mess with the engine, they did other tweaks aswell  ;)
