Hi, my Ford Cougar [smiley=embarassed.gif] has been sitting rusting for 2 years now. Failed it's MOT 6 months ago as the bonnet wouldn't open, new cable bought and fitted, new MOT obtained.
I give the engine a run up every couple of weeks, or did until a month ago, when the battery decided to die. No problem, just pop it on the charger.... The " Damned bonnet " won't open.... [smiley=angry.gif] Keep pulling at the bonnet release.... 'nothing'. Clever Fords, they place the metal outer cable into a plastic half circle retainer, so the cable just keeps on pulling through.
Get Son to bounce on front of bonnet while tugging at cable release, 'no go'. Hold outer cable with pipe grips, heave on inner cable with mole grips, 'no go'.
I need to get this thing sold, but can't get to the battery, is it an 'up in the air' job to fix ??? Loads of mates were coming back to me about solutions, must be my armpits cos no-ones got back to me yet.
Would appreciate any help with this Yankee covered Mondeo, had I managed to get rid of it I could have bought that MV6 for sale... Ta !

I used a claw hammer on a bonnet pull a few years ago - hook the handle end of the cable through the claw part.
Is there a Cougar forum?
