Title: Plundering North of the Border
Post by: Elite Pete on 08 August 2010, 21:21:27
I went plundering north of the barrier today and got myself a nice 2.2DTi CDX. The wife and I set off at just gone 6.30am and arrived at 11am then realised when we were there that the straps supplied with the dolly were too short so it took hours to find 2 suitable straps. After getting the car loaded we had a nice slow drive back in the sun and stopped off for a bite to eat. I must admit the scots do have some lovely scenery, pity its wasted on you :P ;D

My diesel performed brilliantly, i've not long flushed the rad with Fernox so even with another Omega on the back and some second gear hills the temp didn't go over 92 and ive used just under a full tank to do 519 miles half of which were towing so i'm really pleased ;)

I'm having a spot of bother with the chip, it's got an awful judder at about 1500 rpm which has only started since i've had the chip fitted, but it does make the car more driveable ;)

Where North of the Border where you Pete??
A little village just outside Maybole Jim. The Sat nav took me down some very narrow single track roads ::)

I have noticed it before but more so yesterday because 1500rpm in top is about 55mph so I was in 4th most of the way home. And before anyone has a dig about doing 55 all day, those tyres on the dolly are from a mini :o I really must get some 6 ply tyres fitted ;D

It has Z, I think it has been a taxi, although there isn't any evidence of this apart from the aerial at the front. I didn't worry to much about that because its only covered 119,000 miles ;)

Looks to be a great find anyway Pete 8-) - the more I look at the colour, the more I fancy it. :y

Well what a result. I've just received the new MAF sensor I ordered and fitted it to the car and it runs as sweet as a nut. All I have to do now is service it, MOT it and give it a good clean and it will be up for sale. I bought this off Ebay and for once the seller was 100% genuine :y

Same here Pete when I had the chip fitted.
Also I got less MPG not more :-/ so it came out :y

Nice looking DTi, what's it's problem(s)?

It had a Frontera MAF sensor fitted so the engine management light was on. I bought a new MAF and its as right as rain ;)

I have the same problem (on a 427), it is funny because after 2 years of it you really don't notice as you end up driving around it.
