Here is my Omega Mv6 as she looks today...
I've just found out the catalytic converters are worth at least £150, scrap value*, so it looks like her days are numbered.
I thought it would be nice to take a video to show why no-one should ever let me near another Omega, ever again!

I've never posted a video on line, be interesting to see the results, if it works!
*On a related note, does anybody happen to know of the best place to get rid of said catalytic converters. I'm willing to travel any-where within the West-Midlands to find the best price for them, I've been offered £150 for the cats and pre-cats at the first place I called into so figure they must be worth more than that....

They are either pulling your plonker, or they are stupid.
A large OE Cat is worth £40 - £60 (Diesels being at the higher end of the scale).
I used to buy thousands of CAT's, and still have contacts in the business.
Take the £150. Try phoning a company called Workshop Recycling. They are based in Goldthorpe, but have 'buyers' nationwide, and a depot in Brum, so probably a buyer somewhere near you. Tel 0800 242 5098
We used to pay top whack for everything, but I dont think they'll get anywhere near £150 for your CAT's.
-
Not sure if this is a For Sale thread being honest :-?
If you can get £150 for a pair of CAT's let me know as I aint got that much for the ones I have taken :(
-

Nah, Mate... I'm definitely NOT offering the cat's for sale here, honest.
-
Would suggest that you edit your post so it only looks like a car engine running.
Would not want to clip your wings yet again..... ::)

Cheers for the phone number, I'll give them a ring before I take 'em to the scrap dealer I have already found... I have told him there are two main cats and two pre-cats on the car, he asked what car it was and told me the cats are worth £65 each and £7 for the pre-cats. I told him I'll take 'em off the car and drop them in tomorrow so we shall see...
What sort of 'top whack' prices were you paying?

For that type of CAT, £40 would have been the absolute most (to a mate in a garage).... average garage would have got £20 - £25 for them. Pre-Cat's are worthless. £2-£4 each.
Suprisingly, the V6 Omega doesn't have very large CAT's. They are on the smaller side of what I'd call 'Large'.
Oh, PM me the place that offered that sort of money. I could make thousands and thousands of pounds a week from them! I still have contacts nationwide who go through 10's of CAT's a week each. I reckon I could get over 100 CAT's a week, and still carry on with my current full time job........ making £15 per CAT. Not bad!

why are they worth so much whats inside them ??

Traces of precious metals, most notably, Platinum.

Will do, Mate... Lets just wait and see how much I actually walk away with tomorrow first though.

Aye... Can we now reach an understanding that you will comply with the postcount guidelines rather than always trying to see if there is a way round them? Would save wasting lots of each others time..... :y

I'll promise to try... :-X :-/ :y

Looking at that poor miggy Brikhead, you could have done a shedload of 'howto's' on everything from trim removal to 'the beginners guide to video making'! :D ;D ;D ;) :y

I'm just about to go and find out.
I think you will probably be right though, they don't look like Original Vx cats to me...

... they are stamped AC, they also have GM373498F8 stamped on them, doesn't look like a proper G.M. part number to me.
-
Also, does my car have pre-cats? I couldn't see any!!
-
Also, does my car have pre-cats? I couldn't see any!!
Only 2.2/2.6/3.2 have precats

That explains that then, thanks for confirming it for me.
I walked away with £130 for the cats, from E.M.R. in Wolverhampton, at this rate I may even make a profit out of my brief Omega love affair...

Is that Z359? I wouldn't mind a gander at the doors as you're local ;)

I never spotted this post earlier, sorry, I wasn't being rude!!
Yeah, the car looks a real state now... it's quite sad really, to think what I have to done her.

Don't be daft mate, I already knew that! ;D As for your answer to Lee (wellung), he never mentioned 'buying' them, he merely would like 'a look' if they are the right colour? It would be silly if you didn't tell him if they are the colour he 'likes'? ::) ;D :y

Ssshhh! Don't tell any-one but I p.m.'d him my mobile number at the same time as I replied here...
Guess I'm not as daft as my name implies!?

Apart from causing me to walk 10 miles...
