To be fair I would be a c*ck, but I was going to place an order on a new Audi A5, either a 2.7 TDi or a 3.0 TDi, I have to say I now never buy new anymore because of depreciation but, I though it'd be nice. After building an A5 SE not even an S Line, and it coming to £46,460 for the 2.7 TDI SE, I think I may pass and buy a used one :o :o Ok it's specced to the hills, Bang & Olufsen sound system, parking sensors all round, loads of other stupid stuff. What a pathetic price though!!
-
I could never buy a brand new car.
Knowing that as soon as I drive it off the forecourt i've lost thousands of pounds would do my head in :D

Audi is the only make I do dislike. I think they are are really dull, over priced and crap. There's an audi garage in my line of sight as I walk out of my front door, and all their cars are soooooo boring.
I know the guys really well there, and they complain they find them dull, they like the engines...just not the rest of the car.
Occasionally they don't have enough trade plates, so I am asked to move vehicles around etc, and I haven't driven a single Audi I'd want.

I'm trying to talk a bloke I know around to him selling me his S Line A5, it's white and his rego is DC08 DEL. I think they look lovely, it's the only Audi I'd want bar an A8 W12 which are lovely :y
-
The A5's and R8's are superb. And A8 for that matter :y
-
I dont think an R8 could be considered boring in any way, shape or form! 8-) 8-) 8-)
The rest of them can go eat dogshit, but the R8...............ooh baby!
-
I think audi is over price. alldo the R8 is a nice one

All car prices are stupid.
They over pruduce, leave them to start to suffer and then sell to anyone who wants to buy in bulk.
Audi are no different, i nipped through to cleethorpes last year and the docks were full of Audi TT's (Unsold)
Nissan, ford and Vx are stock piled, so mazda and toyota.
BMW are/were piling them up on an airfield.
Why over produce to such levels, either slow production untill it catches up or cut car prices (OR CAR TAXES) and make them more afordable to everyone

Believe it or not all cars are built to order otherwise there wouldn't be a lead time between you ordering one and getting delivery. It's cheaper this way as they are only making cars they will sell e.g. not everyone wants a high spec car so why have cars loaded with toys they can't sell or why build low spec cars then retrofit toys later. Just because you have seen a dock full of cars it doesn't mean they don't have an owner.

So why are there so many unsold cars in docks and sat on airfields.

Just for information, it is my knowledge that Volvo, Saab, Toyota, Skoda, VW, BMW and Audi all use Grimsby/Immingham for their import/export movements.
Would explain seeing a dock full of TTs on your way to Cleethorpes Skruntie

and an airfield full of unsold BMW's?

So why are there so many unsold cars in docks and sat on airfields.
They're not unsold they're awaiting delivery.
A couple of years ago I was working at Vauxhall and we were the only ones making a certain panel. We had to make 6000 of these a week - 2000 for Ellesmere Port, 2000 for Antwerp and 2000 for Bochum. 2000 cars takes up a lot of room and at the time there was a 6 week lead time on an Astra so this equates to at least 10000 cars sitting around awaiting delivery to dealers etc.
As a lot of people want a new car when new registrations are issued, there are 2 per year now, this also contributes to a stockpile of cars.

Wasn't there a field full of unsold Rovers and MG's?

There are a lot of cars built to fleet spec and left on hold till the fleet/hire/whoever wants to buy them and put them on the road.
Tilbury and portbury docks are always full of cars either waiting to be exported or waiting for dealers to collect or get them delivered.
stock pile as you call it has always gone on and will never change car plants will still produce the vehicles with them having nowhere to go yes you can spec a vehicle how you want it and they will build it but most vehicles are not customer speced thats why you various models select, tourer, cd,cdx, elite l,gl gls ghia
